Getting More Complicated

It is nice to have step by step prompts for information but the help feature is no better than last year. Google was more helpful than the TT help feature.

There's several problems with the software

On Soc. Sec. benefits, Turbo kept asking for street address, payer id and payer zip. this info is not provided on Form SSA-1099. I finally was able to get through this with a po box # and payer id from my OPM 1099 and a zip for my former employer HHS.

Efile rejected 2 years in a row

Second year file was apparently rejected for wrong PINs or previous year's AGI on a joint return. I double Checked the AGI entered for previous year and it was correct. Am I supposed to change the PINs each year or use the default ones from previous years? This is not clear in the program, nor is the how to remedy the problem.

We have used TurboTax for several years. It is a great step-by-step, thorough program that helps to ensure the user enters all required information. The error-checking system is great, too.

Great for keeping track of year after year credits

I have been using Turbo tax for decades. I found that its biggest plus is the forwarding of info from last years return, keeping track of capital losses, and such. It has however been "buggier" than ever before even though my taxes in retirement are getting simpler.

Great job on return, poor job on electronic filing

I finished my return but electronic filing was rejected. Turbotax was difficult to get someone to speak to becuase of automated system. Finally got a refund from Turbox=tax for state filing and filed Federal and State return by mail. Very disapointed!
