Twice rejected- Turbo Tax said it was because of foreign tax paid issue, but offered no clue as to how to fix it.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2020 Return More Difficult than 2019
on May 6, 2021
Posted by: MagstersTT
I had some changes this year: no dependents, filing status = Single vs. Head of Household, 529 college fund withdrawals and expenses reported on child’s return rather than mine. Turbo tax wanted me to report the 529 funds on my return referring to my daughter as a “Non-dependent”, but then would not acknowledge the expenses. Halfway in, I found through IRS Publication 970 that if she makes more than $4300, I cannot claim her as a dependent and she has to include the 529 funds on her return. When I tried to correct this, Turbo Tax would not allow me to delete all entries, some but not all. It did not affect the bottom line, but it made me feel uncomfortable that the information was still included in my return. Also, I refinanced my home in 2020 and received 3 1098’s for mortgage interest, one from previous mortgage co., one from company who handled my loan for 1st month after refi, and one from the refi company who kept my loan. Turbo Tax added up all loan amounts on the 3 1098’s to show that I have over $800,000 in mortgages, when I only have 1/3 of that, about $270,000. That needs to be fixed.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
