Issues with State Return due to 401k Distribution

Took a lot of time to figure out that I couldn't file the State return due to a 401k Distribution - unfortunately, I didn't get the error until I had already paid for the return. Fingers crossed that they don't actually charge you until you actually electronically file... BTW - I was stuck in a LOOP for a good hour trying to figure out how to get past the State error. Just when I thought I was making progress, the error would pop up again. There was NO explanation saying you couldn't file electronically... just the same error over and over. SO FRUSTRATING!!! I'm glad this wasn't my first time using Turbo Tax, because it would be my last!

Turbo Tax keeps getting worse year over year

Really poor experience this year. smart check really not that smart. TT let me get all the to ready to transfer for filing before telling me it found errors that wouldn't let me file, even though there were several other pre-checks done before this time. Also a big disconnect between what my W2 has for NJ state boxes 15, 16, 17 and what TT expects. Spend 1/2hr trying to figure out how to get around that. Overall very disappointed.

TT has worked well for me for a decade or more

I've been using TT for many years and have never had a problem with Fed or State after filing. Electronically works best for me even with the extra fee.

Turbo Tax was awful, so not clear, so clunky

Never again. So complicated. At the end, needed to do update to software and would not allow me to eFile. Never again.
