Turbo tax is great

Very happy with it except for the confusing section on deduction for home office, the property tax part. Also it was confusing reporting a 1099-Misc amount for a law suit settlement which ends up calculating a self-employment tax when I'm not self-employed.

PROBLEMS WHEN PREPARING 1040SR W/MULTIPLE 1098s.

It was necessary to combine all 1098 mortgage interest amounts rather than to detail the re-fi events individually. The correct mortgage dates and amounts were entered, but I was forced to summarize the information rather than to detail it to provide support for this resultant sum.

Turbo Tax Had Challenges

I've used "Turbo Tax Deluxe" for seven years and $35.00 was so much cheaper that $250.00 a tax preparer charged me and I had to pay more taxes. I was able to figure out most instructions though there were times I had questions and I couldn't find a phone number and didn't know how to contact anyone. This may have been my fault, overlooking info on how - to contact someone but I just didn't see it. I needed a phone number.

Turbo Tax needs a lot of work on IRA conversions.

I spent many hours trying to get this program to indicate that what I was doing was correct. I had money in a Vanguard IRA fund. Some of that money i converted to a ROTH in Vanguard. IRA.Vanguard sent a 1099-R. I posted the 1099-R. The program did not acknowledge that it was different from my 1099-R that my pension sent. Did searches, etc. went to goggle etc. Went to "FORMS" and posted it there. I still do not know if it was done right.
