A Few Blips

I've used TurboTax for years (maybe decades) and this year I had a little trouble navigating within the software to correct errors resulting from Covid19. I was finally able to correct the error and file my return.

Faith in "Best Refund" LOST + software issues

Turbo tax has a lot to offer, but failed me big time this year. It blatantly miscalculated my best return on a credit vs deduction which would have cost me hundreds of dollars if i had not caught it and manually overridden it. Later on when i finally got to filing, i discovered that the extra $10 i spent to get deluxe + "one free state" was entirely wasted. That extra $10 gets you a free state to print. If you plan to e-file, you will pay out the $25 fee anyway. Total waste. After getting over that frustration, i discovered that when trying to file i was getting an internet transmission error. After troubleshooting for hours, i had to give up and come back. I ended up calling support and after turning off my firewall and reinstalling the product (about an hour total time) I was finally able to file. Overall, terrible experience. My faith in Turbo Tax's ability to get me my best refund has been lost, and my frustration with the costs is at its height.

Turbo Tax phone-support have room for improvement

The electronic voice system is the worse I had ever experience in my entire adult life. The path to speak to someone SHALL be easy. That alone is making me question if I want to stay with Turbo tax or move on to something new.

Cumbersome

Parts of program very confusing instructions. They assume you know all of the investment terms and forms. Sections for info not clearly labeled ie. different 1099 forms.

With a degree in Accounting and 15 years of experience filing hundreds of returns I can tell you that this software (25 years as a developer) is even worse than TaxAct.
