Had some issues this year

Program did not handle the 2020 transition from 1099-MISC to the new 1099-NEC forms. When I updated last year's 2019 1099-MISC forms stored in the system it was asking to assign a "Business Name" to each 1099-NEC. It was not until I had input 10 forms that I noted it would not allow me to assign a business name. After much "playing around with the software I found that entering the 1099-NECs in the Business Sch C area was the correct way. THIS SHOULD BE EXPLAINED IN THE 1099-MISC/NEC area the comes up in the program BEFORE you get down to Business Sch-C area. it was very disappointing when I discovered I had to completely delete about 14 1099s and reenter them in the Business Sch-C area.

I'm a long-time TurboTax Deluxe user - and a BIG fan of the ability to key off the previous year's filing, the step-by-step input of relevant data, the helpful pop-up explanations when I don't understand something, and the convenient state return + e-filing, too! YAY!

some issues

when filling out the hsa part it always says that we see (spouse was only covered part of the year). it is a small issue but no where does it ask lif they lost coverage and my spouse didn't they had it the whole year. other people I know have same issue year after year.

I have to do one real return and three pseudo-returns per year, as part of a complex tax-sharing scheme, and TurboTax has made it so much easier than when I did them all by hand. I used it for eleven years to compare the "real" return with the one our preparer did, to be sure that I was using it correctly for the other returns. Now I just finished my second year of doing it all without the preparer and feel pretty confident that it is coming out right. I love the way the many boxes on a 1099-DIV or 1099-R flow right into TurboTax and it performs its magic with all that information without my having to understand what it is doing. After 52 total returns filled out with TurboTax, I'm still a very happy user. The information it carries forward from the previous year's return is very helpful in filling out the new one. I also use TurboTax to run some what-if scenarios, because it is easier than decoding the tax forms to determine the effects of various actions.

I have used Turbo Tax for at least 15 years to prepare and file my taxes. There is a continued reassurance that Turbo Tax looks for thorough information and deductions. I feel confident that my taxes are filed securely and accurately!
