Why should I have to pay extra for state filing?

Not nearly as easy as the deceptive ads would have you believe. Lots of detours and pointsless dead ends. Does not always accept entries. Putting a "0" instead of a blank can create an error. After paying $50 for the "Deluxe" edition that included the state return, Intuit charges an additional $25 to file the state return. I'm sure they have a rationalization, but next year I think I will try someone else.

I'ts easy to go step by step and number by number. Also you don't have to finish it all at once. You can do it in sections like stopping to change the laundry or cook supper or just to take a break.

I have been using TurboTax for years. With the auto fill from the prior year all you have to do is edit the info to conform to the present year. With the error checks you can be assured your return is accurate.

I have used Turbor tax for many years and it always contained relevant tax changes and updates. They communicate via e-mail through out the entire filing/acceptance process
