TURBO TAX IS EXCELLENT

I USE IT EVERY YEAR, GREAT TAX TOOL. IT SAVES DOING IT THE OLD WAY AND SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY ON PREPARATION SEVICES !

Been using for more than 10yr now. It keeps getting better and easier to use. The only two place need improvement are:
When the leaving state is different from the working state - The tax paid on both state should be automatically calculated instead of from W2 form
Limited Partner Stocks - This require manual entry and the very time consuming.

Error report

I had to file amended returns for 2018 and 2019 because reporting sale of publicly traded partnership using check box in Easy step did not check final K-1 Box on K-1 worksheet. This did not allow passive loss carry forwards to flow to 1040 but carried them to next year.
Sale of Publicly Traded Partnership instructions were not clear. Capital gain or loss on sale was reported on 1099. Possible duplicate reporting on sale using K1 Easy step.
Printing amended returns for filing printed many unnecessary pages. Estimated tax vouchers, many pages of for your records only. Duplicate forms on one state return.

Easy to use and make corrections as needed

The ability to return to different parts of the return easily makes adjusting a return easier. Fill in what you have as you get it and let the software do the calculations. If you forget an item easy to add it before you hit the file button. Makes life easier and less stressful.

Caution on Use of TurboTax State Return

TurboTax for Maryland 2020 had problems with estimated taxes for tax year 2021. It failed to note Maryland does not tax Social Security, which should not be included in Maryland estimated AGI; and it incorrectly added a projected lump sum for a Roth IRA conversion completed in 2020. These errors added thousands in estimated taxes to be paid for 2021!
