Caught in TurboTax's Grip

Overall it works well. Too bad congress won't simplify the tax code to eliminate the need for 'services' such as TurboTax. I wonder why... I wish TurboTax used more professional language, instead of invoking first-person juvenile dialog, e.g. "I know it's taking more than a moment." It also has a nasty habit of not allowing cut-and-paste numbers from financial websites, increasing the chances of mis-typing numbers (granted, this may be a 'security' feature of the website).

It's all I use now

I used TurboTax for years (when filing and deductions were easy), but stopped when a became a shareholder of my employer's company and they offered tax prep by their accounting firm as a perk. When I was no longer employed with them (last year) I went back to TurboTax and never missed a beat. Easy, intuitive and accurate - even for stock sales and 401k rollovers. Well done TurboTax!

Less error checking

I have used turbo Tax for a long time. But each year it seems to have less and less error checking and explaining included. There is no comparison between prior and current year in the state returns. They also did NOT catch a major discrepancy between federal and state income ( a typo on my part - but NO warning from the application)
