Problem with State Return

Federal return was quick and easy again this year. The problem I had was with my Kentucky return. Turbo Tax did not account for the differences between the need to not itemize medical expenses on my Federal return and the need for itemization of medical expenses on the Kentucky state return. Once I figured out I needed to include all my medical expenses in my Federal return (even though they did not meet the threshold) I was able to redo my state return. The difference in my state return went from owing $2,000 to a small refund.

I've been using Turbo Tax for my family taxes for over a decade and, while I sometimes get overly cautious when doing my taxes, I have always found a way in the program to find my answer or the correct reference materials to use for explanation.

Turbo Tax Deluxe Needs a few Improvements

The program was easy to follow but when it came time to file, you get tangled up with payment options to file the State return. It is suggested that you combine the cost to file state taxes with the cost of the software.
