"So easy, a caveman could do it..."

Well, practically that easy! I've been using TurboTax for many, many years... My professional background is an accountant/CPA and I've always been impressed by the way Turbotax can seemingly lead anyone through the process of preparing their own tax return. It's a stellar product!

Why is One TurboTax Issue One Issue too Many?

Software failed to handle a state non-taxable 1099R form. While the value in Box 2a transferred successfully an accurately, software stated electronic return could not be processed. Software falsely claimed the valued was manually altered; value was not altered manually.
Return was without any errors, state filing fee charged to a credit card, federal refund to bank checking account, state taxes due from same bank checking account.

Several hours to resolve issue, with no value on return being erroneous. Actions taken included Shut Down and Restart computer, confirm Windows operating system up to date (it was), Delete MA State 1099R from Federal Return, delete MA State Return, Re-enter Federal and MA State information (Multiple times did I do the same return).
The Federal and MA State Refund amounts and Taxes Paid and Taxes Due values never change.
One individual, Turbo Tax support employee Elaine in Georgia, did an outstanding job assisting me. Elaine was patient, competent, an excellent communicator. She painstakingly worked with me to get the software to work properly. We spent well over 2 hours on the phone working the problem. Intuit and Turbo Tax is most fortunate to have such a high quality employee as Elaine representing the business software product to the public.
Now, I've successfully used Turbo Tax for over 21 years. This is only the second tax year that I have had an difficult issue with the software. However, the 2021 issue was ugly and most painful to deal with this year. Ugh! Looking back, using a pencil and paper tax form and calculator, I could have completed and filed my tax return in far less time.
Turbo Tax software is marketed as a productivity tool. That was absolutely not my customer experience this year. Sadly I tenaciously worked for several hours, putting in well over 7-8 hours of highly frustrating work effort, while simply trying to electronically file an error free return. All this disappointing experienced occurred after having successfully completed my return and checked my return.
Finally, I called Turbo Tax Support and connected with Elaine. Today, I want to strongly express tgratitude to Elaine.

I've used Turbo Tax for 10plus years and have never had trouble with the e-file It seems like several people have had the same trouble. To bad you haven't fixed it yet
