Turbo Tax makes filing taxes easy

I have always filed my taxes using Turbo Tax. It is super easy to navigate and takes you step by step through deductions and credits and then checks your return for errors. I have never had a problem e-filing my taxes or receiving my direct deposit refund in a timely manner.

Turbo tax is great

I have been using Turbo Tax for over a decade. Easy to use. The only issue I have is at the end when I went to file my state taxes I was asked if I wanted to have the cost deducted from my return. I clicked "yes". That should have solved the issue. No, I had to go back and forth, and then finally had to put the charge on my credit card. If that was the preferred option, then be honest about it up front. But, yes, I will use Turbo Tax again next year.

Question on information from 1040 to State

I found difficulty in filing a K-1 (form 1041) as required by the state of MT. The program did indicate tax due but no way to indicate tax already paid. A few hours later, I created a 1099-MISC and the Montana tax due became a tax refund. Is there some way, method, etc., to create a K-1 flag? My meaning/suggestion: If a K-1 is submitted on the Federal return showing tax paid to (in our case) a non-resident state, can one create a few lines of code to transfer this information to the state filing portion of the turbo-tax software? Or, suggest a comment to user to create a 1099-MISC? Have no idea if this explains my dilemma correctly enough for you folks. Hope so. Thank you.

I have used TurboTax for the past 6 years, maybe more, because it is so easy and walks you through every step. I am less anxious about preparing taxes and feel confident that is accurate. The e-filing is effortless.
