Glitch with NYS pensions being entered

NYS pension not being listed as non taxable under normal heading. Had to enter it as Other NY Pension, automatically re entered as US Govt pension by program. Caused a little of confusion when came back as owing State tax!!!

Turbo Tax has a few flaws

I was really frustrated on a few items. One when State asked what kind of fund my retirement and tsp was. I had no clue where to find that and took me a few days to find which one to choose by spending much time on internet. Second, I was a little ticked when I found out I had to pay $25 to file my state tax form by efile. I would have gone back to send by mail, but it didn't allow to do one and not the other. If it did, I couldn't find it. And that was after searching for driver's license information and other banking information. I would have wasted all that time for nothing...so, I ended up paying the $25. I thought this would have been included when I purchased the one with state. For the second year in a row, I said I wasn't going to do it through Turbo Tax, but, I did. Don't think I will do it myself next year. If I do, I may try another program.

Turbo Tax is a great tool

We have used Turbo Tax for over a decade and find it easy to use and very clear in its explanations. I particularly like that it holds the information from the prior year so you can compare current year to the previous year, which helps to point out any major differences.
