Great upgrade from Pixel 2 XL
on May 14, 2021
Posted by: The Pixelator
Overall, I LOVE the Pixel 5. For background, I upgraded from a Pixel 2 XL which I considered a near-perfect phone. The only thing it lacked, in my opinion, was Qi wireless charging. I skipped the Pixel 3 line due to the notch and not needing a new phone. I skipped the Pixel 4 due to the Soli feature (a gimmick not ready for primetime) and reported battery life. After the Pixel 5 was released, I waited a bit due to the negative reviews indicating it was a departure from "premium" phones. I am here to tell you, ignore the reviewers. This phone is the perfect upgrade from a previous Pixel. The screen size is almost exactly the same as a Pixel 2 XL, but the bezels are significantly smaller. Google dropped Soli and put a bigger battery than the 4. The only negative I have is about the under screen speaker is not great especially if you have any hearing issues. If you currently have an older Pixel or Nexus, the 5 is finally the one to upgrade to!

Display is not as vibrant

I liked all the new features except the display was dull compared to my pixel 3. I thought My settings were off and I tried all the different display options but nothing looked vibrant. I sent the 5 back and figure I'd wait until the next release. Great phone otherwise. Maybe the next release won't have the same vivid colors but then I'll have to suck it up if I need a new phone Because I don't expect the Pixel 3 to last forever.

Worst phone ever.

Stay away from this horrible phone. It cannot correctly pair with earbuds when you are on a phone call. The blue tooth waffles back and forth from being paired and not paired. Interestingly, it does pair when listening to music, just not when on a phone call with another person. This issue has been experienced by many Pixel 5 owners. Also when I am on speaker phone, the person I am talking to says they can barely hear me and there is interference on their end. I hate this horrible phone. It is worthless.

Great size and feel. Love the new swipe features once I got used to it. Great battery life. I would recommend to anyone in the market for a new 5G capable phone.

Smaller size, awesome features, two big mistakes
on June 4, 2021

The Pixel 5 is a smaller phone on the market. It will easily fit in your pocket and it's not bulky. The technology on the phone is remarkable. The camera is phenomenal. The fingerprint sensor works flawlessly. The battery life is better than my other phones (not Google phones). Speaker is better than what you'd hope for. It suggests apps on the home screen (more helpful than I make it sound). A neat feature some may like is it detects songs around you automatically.I have two complaints that I think are critical. The first being the speakers point downwards from the bottom of the phone. This is inconvenient because when I'm talking on the phone, the speaker is pointed away from my ear. The second is the back swipe gesture. It's a swipe from the side of the screen. Unfortunately, many apps use the same gesture to navigate, making the phone perform undesirable actions. A more reasonable back gesture would've been a left swipe on the home bar.

Overall I love it! I love the size of the pixel 5, it's snappy, the battery lasts forever, and the camera is amazing. The only issue is that I wish the screen was brighter

Straightforward version of Android
on June 4, 2021

Coming from only Samsung phones I decided to give the Pixel line a try. The Google Pixel 5 is the most straightforward Version of Android without any extra bloatware apps. It's efficient, has great battery life and I haven't had any issues thus far.
