Great extend rear facing feature!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the Extend2Fit® Platinum 3-in-1 Car Seat! This car seat has so many great features! One of my favorite features is the extendable panel for extra leg room - an extra five inches! My toddler is tall (takes after he dad) so her long legs began getting cramped and really uncomfortable in her previous rear-facing car seat. The Extend2Fit® Platinum 3-in-1 Car Seat allows me to keep her rear-facing longer because I can (easily) use the extendable panel for extra leg room to allow her to extend her legs more comfortably in the car! She loves it! I can now keep her rear-facing much longer than I thought I would be able to, which eases my mind when it comes to safety in the car. I also like that I can extend the seat back of the car seat to support the back and head of my toddler. I like knowing that I can use this car seat for many years. I also like that this car seat can be used for babies. I was able to comfortably and quite easily recline my 6 month old. She was very well supported and had a big grin on her face. For now, I have decided to use this car seat for my toddler due to her long legs and not yet meeting the height and weight requirements to safely face forward in the car. The Extend2Fit® Platinum 3-in-1 Car Seat was the EASIEST car seat I have EVER installed! I did not struggle with installation like I do with other car seats and bases. I was able to fully extend that latch strap to attach each latch connector to my car's lower latch anchors. The EZ Tight Latch Retractor made tightening the car seat a breeze! After pushing the button to retract the slack of the latch strap, I just had to firmly press down on the car seat and listen for the clicking to stop. Then I checked for tightness by trying to move the car seat side-to-side and front-to-back. It was secure! My child LOVES this car seat! It must be very comfortable because she has called it her "couch" from the very beginning! She happily gets buckled into the seat and stretches her legs out very comfortably. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this convertible car seat to try!!

Incredible value for so many features + Ez latch!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My youngest of three tried out this for the stellar review panel and he could not love the seat more. My eight year old is also now begging me to buy her one.
Our findings: The EZ Tight system. THIS IS GENIUS for those who struggled to get traditional seats tighter. I have no doubt this will save lives just from proper installation in more cars. However- it didn’t get as tight for us as we like. We found it was a bit lose for our liking (although within the guidance per the instructions). We found this to be the case most critically when rear facing because it only uses the bottom 2 latches (not the third tether point).
(If perhaps under the seat cushion an additional traditional thread pull was added as an optional double method to the ez tight, I’d be thrilled because your weight and a yank in the opposite direction could really lock it down.)
The removable cushions/pads for washing without rethread is FANTASTIC. SO FEW multi stage seats do this and to have all the other features of this seat makes this a huge win.
The convertibility is unmatched in this size class. I’ve never had a seat be able to be so many positions and sizes. Rear facing options up to 50 lbs is a great option.
The smaller base size (in all configurations) is great. My three kids sit in a rear bench. My two littles have car seats that I prefer to keep on latch so my oldest has to sit in the middle. My oldest (13) was relieved to have more hip room. This base is also smaller than the 5 point seat my 50 lb 8 year old uses.
The cup holders- having two is awesome. The only cup that didn’t fit happens to be my little guys favorite but is really wide so that’s expected. All the typical cups we own fit with ease. I do wish they were removable but that’s not important.
The caveats: While there are safety benefits to rear facing up to 50lbs, unlike a bucket seat obviously you can’t remove it for easier pass though to the middle seat. Depending upon your car/SUV this may require you to only use the other side of the car for other kiddos entry. Our vehicle has a solid bench that doesn’t slide back enough nor does it have a latch in the middle seat. While you can secure the graco extend to fit platinum with the seat belt, that wasn’t our choice.
When used (rear facing option only) the extended footrest pushes the seat closer to the front of the car and the edge of the car seat upon which it rests. (It has to remain on 80% on the seat) When rear facing it cannot use the top latch belt, so it is therefore more prone to moving left to right. I was disappointed by the amount of movement and I wish it had another point of security of some sort.
Seat position in rear facing was close to the front headrests, but even in full foot/legroom extension mine stayed clear of touching. If it had been pressed against my seat, the child seat may have been more secure as it could be held in place. I admit my car (LR4) is large.
After rear facing until 26 months in his prior 35lb max bucket style seat, my youngest really loved the leg room of the extension panel. However after a few rides, for the above reasons we switched him forward to get that third latch point in his five point belt.
Overall I REALLY LIKE this seat and it has a lot of bang for the buck. It totally can last from birth to age 8-10 depending upon your kiddos size. You get world class features on a seat that competitively can cost you $100-$200 more to find in one model. The EZ latch system is wonderful too - I just wish for a manual override for those of us who really like to make it immobile.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you to Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending me the Graco Extend 2 Fit Platinum 3-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. I LOVE it and so do my kids!!! My youngest was not a great passenger on car rides until we put her in this seat. Now she is happy, comfortable and falls asleep in the car almost every time we go out! The material is super soft and cozy and the recline capability is fantastic! It was relatively easy to secure the seat into my vehicle with the EZ Tight latch system and the extension panel is phenomenal! Using the extension panel, both of my kids fit comfortably in this seat (rear-facing), even though one is around 40 lbs and his previous seat requires that he face forward based on height and weight. I was able to take off and put on the seat cover with no problem at all. I also love that I can adjust the headrest and seatbelt harness with one hand. This is especially useful when you haven’t gone out all week, set them in the car on the weekend and realize that they must have grown a bit! This convertible seat can hold a child that is anywhere between 4-100 pounds and with all of its extra features, it is the best seat that I have come across so far! I definitely recommend this car seat! It’s truly amazing!!!

Safe and stylish

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We've had this seat for about a month now and it has been great! My first impression of the seat upon opening it was how stylish it is! I love the new design of the anchors, they help to get a nice tight and safe installation. Obviously, the biggest pro of this seat is the ability to extend the length enabling our kids to rear face for longer! It is incredibly easy to use the extendable panel and would say the only con with that is that the extension feels a little cheap with the type of plastic used. Another con for me is the placement of the lever that you use to recline and incline the seat. It's a little hard to reach with certain angles as well as pull out to be able to adjust the seat. Overall the pros absolutely outweigh any and all cons and the ability to safely extend the rear-facing life is huge for me! Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for providing me with this convertible car seat.

Sturdy and comfy--basically a mini spaceship!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I have three kids, ages 0, 3, and 6. So, we've been through a few car seats. Thanks to the Stellar Product Testing Panel, we were able to try out Graco's Extend2Fit Platinum 3-in-1 convertible car seat. We have other convertible car seats, but this is the first we've used from infancy (our third son is 3-1/2 months). The company claims that the ProtectPlus design has passed the most rigorous crash tests--thankfully, we haven't needed to test that out, but based on appearance alone, this is the most sturdiest-looking and -feeling convertible car seat we've ever tried. It's basically a mini spaceship! And the sturdiness didn't seem to affect comfort for my little guy.
Installation was easy -- no major issues with one exception. We installed rear-facing, and the bubble leveler to to get the recline position correct is only on one side of the car seat. We could only install it on one side of the car, and, unfortunately, the bubble leveler was not visible without climbing over to the other side. Needs to be on both sides.
One of the features we look forward to trying is the extendable panel for extra leg room. With our first two kids, we transitioned them to forward-facing at age 2. With baby #3, however, we will rear-face for longer [this seat fits rear-facing toddlers/preschoolers up to 50 lbs], so the extendable foot rest is a feature we appreciate. It adds five inches. Like the other convertible Graco car seat that our 6-year-old uses, we love that this seat also has the one-handed headrest adjuster--this one has ten positions (!)--and how the harness adjusts automatically at the same time. Probably the best feature of the newer Graco convertible seats.
I would definitely recommend this seat for shoppers looking for one seat to cover their baby's ride until they don't need a seat anymore (~100 lbs.).

Extended Leg Panel is Genius

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] While my LO’s favorite part of this car seat is the dual cup holder (one for his drink, one for the toys) I have to say that I was most impressed with the extended leg panel. Obviously safety is all of our first priority when it comes to purchasing a car seat and with experts recommending that children stay rear facing until 3+ this car seat finally addresses the comfort issue for older toddlers. I also really appreciate the quick remove car seat cover because #snacks. Having the ability to easily remove and wash the cover without uninstalling the car seat is a real win for me. Thank you to the Stellar Product Testing Panel for sending this car seat to try! It has definitely become our new favorite.

Great features, perfect size!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was given this convertible car seat to try as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. My first thought upon removing it from the box was how small it was. Not in a bad way, but in a way that it was very manageable for a smaller framed female like myself to maneuver. It also proved to be a perfect fit for my compact car. I’ve seen a few seats that would be way too overwhelming for the space I have. The self-ratcheting latch on the seat made it super easy to install—I had a solid install in probably about a minute. The level indicator on the side of the seat is well placed and easy to read, so adjusting it to the proper incline for my child was a breeze. The padding on the seat is adequate—although I had previously purchased the Extend2Fit 3-in-1 (not Platinum version) 2 years ago and I find the padding on that seat to be more cushy. My 3-year old daughter, however, has no complaints about this seat being uncomfortable and has even fallen asleep in it several times. The cupholders could probably be a bit bigger, but that’s really the only complaint I have. I love how the seat grows with the child, so in reality you could get by with this one item from birth-booster age. What a bargain! Overall, I would definitely recommend this car seat to others.

Works well. Haven’t had it long, but it was easy to install and he fits well. I was worried about his head being at a weird angle from other reviews, and it was with the extra padding in, but he’s super big so we took that out and now it’s fine.
