Trackpad scrolling issues, loud fan and low battery life.

Received the Dell XPS 13 7390 (16 GB ram) about a week ago. Out of the box the laptop looks and feels great, however trackpad two-finger scrolling was finnicky, erratic and inconsistent. I tried troubleshooting it to no avail. The battery life after a full-charge was less than 4 hours (as opposed to 10-11 hours on review sites) and the fan was quite loud from time to time even though I only had a couple tabs and Evernote open. I chatted with customer service to replace it and have a new one coming soon. Hopefully this is just a faulty laptop that somehow made it past quality assurance as my experience has been quite disappointing.

Amazing

The Dell XPS 13 7390 is a great Ultrabook because it is light and extremely portable. The aluminum body makes the whole laptop experience fell luxurious and durable at the same time. The 7390 had six cores making the laptop extremely fast and the fingerprint scanner ,when used, logs you in almost immediately. I would recommend this laptop to everyone who needs a fast, durable, and portrable laptop and have a fair budget. The only problem with this laptop that I have is that it can get a bit too hot after a half-hour. But it is really easy to overlook and I would overall recommend this laptop for school and/or business.

My initial impression of the Dell's XPS 13 is that it's a 1st rate laptop computer. It is small, solidly built and fast. The screen is amazing which is a main driver for selecting this laptop. Very pleased with Dell and this purchase.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I am sorry to hear about your overheating issue. That can be very frustrating. Here are some tips to try to help your computer stay cooler,

It is essential to make sure that your computer is running the most up to date bios. You can check by using the link below.
BIOS is an acronym that stands for Basic Input Output System. Also known as " System Setup," the BIOS is embedded software on a small memory chip on the computer motherboard. This chip is referred to as the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS). It acts as an interface between the computer hardware and operating system, allowing the software to control the hardware.
The BIOS contains instructions that the computer uses to perform basic instructions, such booting from a network or hard drive or which drive to boot from.
BIOS is also used to identify and configure hardware components in a computer. These include the hard drive, floppy drive, optical drive, processor, memory, and Plug-and-Play devices. This is called the ESCD (Extended System Configuration Data) and is stored in additional non-volatile memory known as Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM).
Over the years, as technology has changed, people still refer to the BIOS as both CMOS and NVRAM. However, they are subtly different. The CMOS contains the BIOS and its settings. The NVRAM contains the ESCD, thus updating the BIOS does not clear the NVRAM.

Dell recommends updating the BIOS as part of your scheduled update cycle. Like operating system and driver revisions, a BIOS update contains feature enhancements or changes that help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules (hardware, firmware, drivers, and software) as well as providing security updates and increased stability.
Unlike Windows and anti-virus program updates, which are automatic, BIOS has to be updated manually.
Dell provides an easy-to-use self-installing update package.
The XPS 13 7390 BIOS update for fan performance was included in revision 1.3.1 – however, there is a more recent BIOS that contains critical security updates that should be used in place. https://dell.to/2yymQtX

I have received my laptop. The Microsoft package I have bought does not appear to be installed properly as it says it will run out in 7 days. I purchased the Microsoft(R) office home and student 2019. Also every time I try and set up the pin log in option it just says "oops something went wrong". the fingerprint reader also does not work I have tried to re register my fingerprint and it says that this is already registered but then when I try log in using it, it asks for the pin which I can not set up!
