Still in love with XPS 13

I upgraded from my early 2015 XPS 13 (4GB RAM, 128GB Solid-State Drive) to the late 2019 XPS 13 (8GB RAM, 128GB Solid-State Drive). The low hard-drive space works well with me, as I mostly use Cloud storage. I love the 16:10 aspect ratio, super crisp screen, wide viewing angles, new camera position, and ease of login (using fingerprint). Not sure why, but my startup screen freezes up for a second while loading Windows spotlight - I find that a bit concerning, considering my last XPS 13 died on me. Not a huge fan of the lack of USB-A ports, but Dell somewhat makes up for it by providing you with a USB-C to USB-A adapter. Also, the coil whine is still noticeable. Overall, this is a powerful, beautiful, ultra-portable laptop - and I love it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Recently purchased a Dell xps 13 after having had a MacBook for the last five years. Bought online from the Dell website, it was delivered quickly and was kept informed on delivery progress so happy with the service. It has taken a couple of days to get used to the Windows operating system, but now all is good. The dell quality seems up there with the Mac so overall happy with my purchase.

I have a 5 year old XPS13 whose battery outlasts the current XPS - I think the graphics probably chews through the battery which lasts around 5 hours for light work - no gaming or movies. Also, got a blank screen with cursor - self sorted...average compared to expectations.

Your feedback is appreciated. Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your battery life.

To increase battery performance, I would try these steps.
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built-in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings, or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana, then type Battery Saver into the search box and choose from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the functionality to meet your needs best.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings are available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize additional Battery Saver feature.

Close, but still better than others

The price point of this machine is definitely higher than what it should be with newer faster RAM specs on the "New" XPS model. I love the upgraded screen to have 4K on this display, along with a 6-core CPU. The RAM option should have been 32GB DDR4 on this model, but it topped out with only 16GB DDR3 which is subpar for a 10th gen Intel CPU. Also, the spacebar on the keyboard has an intermittent squeak which it shouldn't have for the price tag of this model. Coming from an Apple MacBook Air for the longest time, it's definitely nice to see Dell having a model that's competing in that space. While the Apple still wins hands down its quality, this Dell has been an amazing upgrade in the meantime to use.
