Upon opening my new laptop and turning it on I discovered immediately an issue with the fan. It made a ticking noise like it was hitting something inside. I contact customer service via live chat and the tech was very helpful however this experience was time consuming. The tech tried to update drivers which did help the issue slightly by reducing the frequency of use by the fan however the issue with the fan still persisted. A technician came out to my work to replace the fan among other parts which did resolve the issue with the fan however the tech failed to completely replace the base of the laptop and it appeared as if a clip was broken. After spending over an hour on the phone with customer service they finally agreed to send the tech out to my work again. He was able to quickly resolve the issue with the base and now I finally have a functional laptop that I'm happy with. It took a lot of time and work to get a defective product fixed but it caused a minimal disruption in being able to use my laptop. Dell should have higher quality control to ensure that the product they sell to consumers isn't defective and they should have customer service channels that are more time efficient. They do have friendly customer service and they fix my laptop by sending out a tech which limited my frustration of this issue a bit since I didn't have to send it back to get fixed.
I've got the a 10th gen intel i7 model with 16 gb RAM and I'm loving it so far. My biggest issue with my last PC, was start-up time - this pc is sooo quick to get going. Port selection is adequate, response time for issues is optimal and everything runs smoothly
Initially keyboard backlit was not there, it had to be replaced; then I had a strange but atleast thrice issue on power: laptop would drop the external harddisk connected to the usb port when running on battery and the battery levels drops to around 50%. also when the battery level was v low say 6-8%, the machine would shut itself off if I plug the external wall power to it, and the laptop could not be powered back up for several minutes until the battery was upto certain level, even though the machine was connected to wall power throwing a scare I would not be able to access my programs and data.
My previous laptop lived out its life and I did not replace it, but rather moved to a tablet and the use of my phone. Its been several years and I decided that while renovating my home, I would create some office space and return to a laptop complimented by a large monitor. I chose the XPS 13 because of good experience with Dell and the years of good performance it has provided. I am so very pleased with this decision. The laptop is light and compact in size but works like a powerhouse. It's sharp and crisp and puts me back into good shape with managing household business, social media, entertainment and connects well with my other devices!
I've been using the XPS 13 7390 for about two weeks now. It's a great computer, well made, and fast. I have the Core 5 processor and it does everything I need it to do, including photo editing with Adobe Lightroom. No problems with setup or Windows 10. Like all new devices, it does take a while to download several updates to the OS and other programs. Overall, it's a winner!
I completely love everything about this laptop from the 13inch size to the materials its made of. It is the perfect machine to do all of my college courses to my marketing career. Dell killed it with this XPS never leaving the XPS behind.
