Makes good pizza if the stone doesn’t crack
on January 4, 2022
Posted by: Kathy
I bought a second oven(round stone) for a family vacation home, first use on first pizza the stove cracked. Seems like others complain of the same problem. After investing over 1K, you’d expect to be able to bake more than one pizza. The older version also has a better stone (imo) in that it has a squared front to help you load the pie without things falling through, the newer version allows for food to easily get under the stone and burn onto the oven causing a huge mess. However, besides the poor design of the round, smaller stone, having it crack on its first use is disappointing. Customer service was of minimum help and since this is now my 4th Breville purchase, two being the pizzaiolo, I am very disenchanted that they don’t seem to care about service after purchase. They told me that they wouldn’t replace the stone. Now I’m stuck with an expensive pizza oven with a cracked stone. We had been enjoying our first pizzaiolo and wanted to not lug it back and forth so splurged on a second one. Now it sits unusable. I expect more from a high end appliance and it’s brand.

8-10 pizzas a week for almost two years.

No issues. Works great. Still using the original stone (gen 2, the circular one), no issues, clean with damp sponge after vacuuming when it’s cool. Do this after each day session of 2-3 pizzas.

Amazing Pizza at Home
on April 6, 2023
Posted by: Paul
I’ve been a home pizza chef for at least 20 years and have purchased a number of products over the years to make delicious pizza for my family and friends. I am not embellishing when I tell you that I haven’t seen anything remotely like this oven. The only downside is that the oven will smoke if there is any residue left in the oven at all. To minimize the potential for smoke, I purchased a heat resistant cover for my stovetop that claims to be effective up to 1000 degrees F. This was important because it allowed me to place the oven directly under my range fan. This gets the job done but limits my ability to use the stovetop without moving the oven, which is heavier than it looks. Another tip that I learned is when you activate the oven by choosing one of the pizza settings, the timer will automatically light up to the corresponding number of 30-second intervals. But you still have to press the knob in to actually start the timer. The Neapolitan setting, for example, takes only two minutes so you can imagine what happens if there’s any delay in activating the timer. I’ve tried four different settings and the pizzas are flawless. I’ve also used the included carbon steel pan after seasoning it. Don’t skip the seasoning process before the initial use. My best cooking advice is to never forget the mix of semolina flour and bread flour on the peel (learn this word and you will certainly become a person of mystery and intrigue, at least to everyone who comes over for dinner. Less is more when it comes to both the amount of dough and crushed tomatoes. I recommend San Marzano tomatoes with a hand blender otherwise they will turn pink in a regular blender. Remember to dry your fresh mozzarella with a paper towel. Don’t skimp on the ingredients but you can save by buying them at a warehouse club. I remove the stone before I use the oven and wipe it with a damp paper towel. Soap would get into the stone so avoid using it. Once the stone is removed, I sometimes carefully spray Easy Off to clean the oven without spraying the heating elements. This helps minimize any smoke from residue in the oven. Occasionally, you may see flames inside the oven if there’s any residue. I shut the oven off as soon as my pizza finishes cooking to minimize any issues. Remember oxygen feeds fire so try not to leave the door open if you see flames. They will go out once the oven is off. The peel that comes with the oven is an amazing tool. Lightly jiggle the pizza dough once you have it on the peel before adding the ingredients to the dough to make sure that the pizza will slide onto the stone. Take no more than 5 minutes to build the pizza once the dough is on the peel. Otherwise the dough may stick and you will have an epic mess on your hands with enough billowing smoke to send you running to the nearest smoke detector as you comically wave a dish towel over your head. Of course those closest to you will try to capture the entire humiliating ordeal on video. Despite all this, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without the Breville Pizzaiolo all these years. Buon appetito!

Looks great, Quick pizza with Hot tempretures

I love my pizza oven, once it is hot it makes great pizzas. My only issues is cleaning it is very hard. We have use it only few times, and interior top next to the door is already black because smoke comes out from there. The stone is all black too and it is very hard to clean. It would have been nice to have an extra pizza peel so you can have another pizza ready to put in as soon as one comes out.

Great while it worked but it broke down very soon after purchasing it.

It was great while it worked! I absolutely LOVE most of my Breville items. We own THREE of the smart ovens and they are incredible and we wouldn't know how to live without them BUT the pizza oven is a HUGE disapointment as it stopped working. We used it a lot in the short time we have it as we have many guests as we entertain all the time. Even the guests have been very impressed at the quality of the pizza. We are very busy people and I have't had the time to call Breville to return it for a replacement as I am in a Rural area. For the high price tag - we are extremely disappointed!

It doesn’t work
on February 2, 2021

I just got my Pizzaiolo oven today as soon as I plugged it in I heard a loud pop and the oven shorted out my condominium unit. I was suppose to use the Pizzaiolo oven to bake pizza for the homeless and help out others but my pizza oven did not even work! I am extremely disappointed as it’s my first time ordering a home pizza oven at a high price point .
