A learning curve
on April 19, 2020

I have used this oven for one month, or approx. 12 pizzas. Results have been beyond my expectations, a very pleasant surprise. I have the second generation oven with round stone. The oven is easy to clean and the preset cooking settings are accurate and effective. I have found the manual settings to be most helpful with Napoli pizza....using only the outer/upper heating element to focus the heat on the crust. This is a lifetime learning experience and options on the oven present and manual settings allow for constant improvement and failure. There is a learning curve that may be quite steep for novice pizza makers. If so, keep at it and the end result is worth the journey.
This oven is quite expensive, yet it does exactly what it promises to do. Breville obviously created this oven to do one thing well: Make authentic neapolitan pizza at home without needing fire, and it succeeds in spades. You do need some practice and develop the relevant culinary skills. I had to learn a lot about pizza and watch a lot of YouTube videos. I had a few pizza disasters from a messed up launch due to dough sticking to the peel. But if you put in the work and do some experimenting, he oven will perform for you and reward your effort.
The Breville makes fine pizzas of other styles, but the machine was clearly designed around Neapolitan and that's where it truly shines. For me though, on the auto setting for "woodfire" it took me 3 minutes to get the perfect Neapolitan, not 2 mins. For NY style, I needed to manually set the deck to 550F, top 525F to get good results. I'm still trying to find the optimal setting for pan pizza. As a bonus the oven is also perfect for Indian naan. I found I could make perfect, restaurant-quality naan with deck 650F, top 600F, bake for 2 mins. All in all, some days I wonder if I was insane to spend this much money on a pizza oven, but overall I have no regrets, because I use the oven frequently and make awesome delicious pizza/naan that I couldn't make otherwise.
Yes, you can make bigger and probably even better pizza with an actual woodfire oven, but that's simply not practical for a lot of people. An electric oven is also also many times more convenient than those specialized metal propane/wood pellet pizza ovens. If you can afford it and you love pizza (an naan), this machine delivers. I've heard many horror stories of the included pizza stone being easy to crack, I've been carefully babying mine, so far no issues, fingers crossed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Restaurant Quality

We just got the Pizzaiolo and LOVE it! Its fast so you can make several pizzas in a short amount of time, and thats good when everyone is standing around waiting. We have used it outside as well as inside. The cord is short (safety reasons) so luckily our outdoor deck has electrical outlets close enough to plug it in. The oven doesn't get too hot but does get warm enough that you don't want to put anything on top or close to the sides--needs a few inches clearance on sides. Make sure to let it cool down (there is an internal fan) so after you are done, turn it off but keep it plugged in to automatically cool down (only takes a few minutes). The metal peel needs semolina/flour mix to get it off nicely or it will stick. A wooden peel may work better. All in all we love it, and so do our guests-its fun party and although its a bit $$$ its worth every penny when everyone can make their own pizza and don't forget veggies are great in it also. There is a pizza pan and we have used it for vegetables.

2 years of use -- one of the best purchases of all time!

I bought this oven almost immediately after it was released in fall of 2018. It was a game changer. I have entertained and made some of the best pizza my family and friends have ever had. After almost two years of use Breville replaced my oven and I now have the newest version. My review covers both versions and explains how Breville's update made the oven perform better.
Here are my observations after two years of use.
THE OVEN, TEMPERATURE and HEATING COILS
The pizza oven takes about 15-20 minutes to heat to temperature and cooks pizza incredibly fast. I did notice that after 1-1.5 years worth of use, it seemed like the pizza took a little longer to cook than it originally took. This didn't really bother me except for when I was entertaining large groups and depended on the pizza cooking as fast as possible so I could get the next pizza in the oven. I researched the issue and contacted Breville customer support, who were easy to deal with and offered a replacement.
After I received the new oven, I observed a couple noticeable differences between the original model and the new model. The heating coils are larger and cover a bigger area inside the ove. This helps the oven stay at temperature, pizza after pizza, and remain as powerful and as hot as possible. I've noticed a significant change with cooking time with the new oven.
THE STONE
I noticed that some of the other reviewers have had issues with the pizza stone cracking, however, my stone never cracked and I didn't have a single issue with it in 2 years of use.
The newest version of the oven has a round pizza stone as opposed to a stone that is rounded on one end and squared off on the other. The new round stone feels a little lighter and looks a little thinner, so this might be the reason for the issues with cracking. I imagine the stone is a little thinner to help with the cooking time of the pizza. I haven't noticed much of a difference between the old stone and the updated stone but I imagine it was designed this way for good reason.
THE PEEL
The metal peel provided is great for removing pizzas from the oven but I highly recommend not using it to place your pizza in the oven. The metal heats up quickly and will cause the dough to stick to the peel if you aren't really quick with it.
I purchased a 10" wooden peel that has been wonderful for putting pizzas in the oven. This way you can leave the metal peel on top of the oven and use it for rotating the pizza and removing it from the oven.
The conclusion: this pizza oven is a must if you love making pizza, or even if you want to start making your own pizza. It doesn't take a ton of skill to effectively use, but is also such a high quality oven that its being used by professionals as well when they might not have access to their brick oven, etc. I originally wanted to build my own brick oven but this was such a better choice. No wood, no long heating time, very little prep and very little cleanup. I have noticed that my friends and family want to come over more frequently for pizza now, and my wife has decided that she doesn't like to eat pizza anywhere else now. I concur. Thanks, Breville, for putting out a top quality product!
Absolutely amazing oven. Closest thing to a legit wood fired oven for safe use inside. Heats up in 20minutes and create amazing pizzas. Save up for one, if you enjoy making pizza you must get this oven.

I love this oven ... except the stone did break.

This oven makes the best "wood-fired" pizza! I feel like I am getting restaurant quality every time I make a pizza. Like others have mentioned, my stone broke on just my third day of owning even after being very careful and letting it cool overnight before cleaning. Which is disappointing. Also, it did take a bit of practice to be able to get the pizza off the peel into the oven. But now that I've gotten the hang of it, I use this oven for pizza multiple times a week. Giving it a 5 star review because I absolutely love this oven and the pizza it makes but do wish the stone wasn't so fragile. But I will say that the customer service at Breville is excellent!
