I have *always* been a huge fan of the NASA space program and legos. Any time there is a set combining the two I have to get it. This set was really fun to build and didn't take me but 4-5 hours to complete. I highly recommend getting this set to add to a collection.

Worth it

This is a beautiful set that goes perfectly with my Saturn V model and is well worth the money. Other reviews have already stated all the positive points of this set so I won't bother reiterating. There's only two (extremely minor and mostly personal) things that I wish were different. First, I was hoping this set could have used printed pieces like the Saturn V did. I made a mistake with one of the stickers (a small bubble) and so I'm going to see if LEGO will send me a replacement sheet as I can't fix it without destroying the label. Obviously my own fault, but it would have been nice if I could have avoided it altogether. Secondly, I wish the model label used the actual term for the lander (Lunar Module or Lunar Excursion Module) instead of simply stating "Lunar Lander". Again, extremely minor and really just a personal peeve. These points in no way take away from how awesome the set is.

The (LEGO) Eagle has indeed landed!

Believe it or not, this kit was a Father's Day gift. I have been a NASA fan for many years, and it was great to see such a great LEGO rendering of the LEM. It's kinda funny though...I noticed in all the box photos and even here on the site the slanted vent pieces above the main hatch are upside down! Not sure why they photographed it this way. The instructions and manual drawings clearly show them slanting downward, not upward. That bit of trivia aside, this is a GREAT KIT! Really enjoyed it. It now sits on my desk at work as a display piece. I built the Saturn V last year...now I guess I need the command module! :-)

This set is a stunner. Great detail and the Lunar display stand is perfect. The footsteps on the surface is a wonderful bonus. My only nitpick is the Minifigures. Great printing on the torsos, but then it gets covered up with the helmet piece. Plus the plain white legs and white arms really could have had some printing on them. At least the American flag on the shoulder would have been a nice touch. But otherwise a wonderful set that I would recommend to any Lego or Apollo aficionado. Keep up the good work Lego!!

All that you would expect, and more.

This set is another well-inspired NASA item. Along with the previous Saturn V rocket, the lunar lander from Apollo 11 is just awesome. The detail at this scale is great. Additionally, the brick built moon surface base is great, rather than having the set just perched by itself on the shelf.
A fairly easy build, there were a few unique parts that helped to give the lander it's authentic appearance. LEGO did a great job in using the gold colored pieces to represent the gold-foil wrap on the actual lander. All of the small details just add to the play value of this set.
At over 100 pieces, the piece per dollar value is pretty good. The instruction manual gives a very detailed history of the lander, as well as the space program as a whole. This will make a wonderful display piece for any space fan.

Lunar Lander

LEGO did an Awesome job with this kit! This is the first kit I've built in close to 50 years. My Father worked on one of the real Lunar Modules, and that is what inspired me to build this. It is expert level, and I do admit, there were a few tricky areas, but I got through it fairly quickly. I am impressed with the instructions also. This kit inspired me to build some others!
