Whether you believe we landed on the moon when we said we did or not, this iconic Kubrick piece of history was a fun build and is a beautiful display piece from any angle.

A compliment to Lego's Saturn V
on December 18, 2020

Bought this set to compliment the lego Saturn V which I had bought and built.
Assembling this set was straight forward with the included build instructions (Which also doubles up as a collectible, since it contains a brief history of the Lunar Lander).
Lego's attention to detail on the Lunar Lander is absolutely superb. They managed to capture the surface of the moon with perfect detail. They managed to recreate the crater "Tranquility", where the lander touched down & Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon through lego, which is amazing.
The lunar lander was captured with amazing detail as well. The sides of the lunar lander can be detached and one of the astronaut mini figures can be put inside, to add to the realism.
All in all I really enjoyed building the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander and can now enjoy the model that sits in my room.

AWESOME set

I got hooked on Lego after purchasing and building the Saturn 5! If you love that set, then this is a MUST BUY! If you are fan of NASA and especially the Apollo Program, then you absolutely need this set. I watched the Moon landing live, back in 1969, and this set (along with the Saturn 5), brings all of that back to life!

Must Have for Space Fans

If you have the Saturn V Apollo 11, this set is a must have. Great look, great instruction (although I was getting worried I had missing pieces until I noticed there are TWO bags marked as Bag 1) and a great finished product. If there was only one thing I would change, it would be a more detailed backpack for the figures, it does not even closely resemble the actual backpacks. I know it’s only a LEGO build, but since they went to all the detail of the LEM, they could have put a little more effort into the backpack. Sorry for the nitpicking but it needed to be mentioned LOL. Now, all that needs to be done is a command module, the lifeboat that is the home of the travelers on the round trip to the moon. I would like to see the detail designers put into that part of the longest road trip ever taken. Thank you for once again creating a great set.

Lunar landing model, revisited
on August 10, 2019

My first Lego set as a child in the early 1970s was Lego’s first lunar landing set - a blue, bricky version full of straight lines, astronaut mini figures, and a lunar buggy that really didn’t look at all like the real thing. But that didn’t matter because I loved Legos and wanted to be an astronaut so I played with it for hours and hours and hours.
I was incredibly excited when Lego announced it would be releasing a 50th anniversary lunar landing model this year. I’ve built dozens and dozens of Lego models as an adult, but I’ve never had more enjoyment out of building a model than this lunar landing set. It’s not the most technically difficult model (although the leg construction uses some interesting techniques), but the level of detail made it fantastic. I’ve spent more time than the average person studying the Apollo missions and am blown away with the care and detail in this set. Of course there’s the iconic flag and two astronauts, but there are smaller details like the hidden camera that was used to film Armstrong’s first steps and the panels that were left on the moon to reflect laser beams back down to earth. The detail in the crew compartment is equally nice and the fact that it detaches from the landing module just like the real one is perfect.
All in all, next to the Saturn V model, this has been my favorite build by far. If you’re reading this, Lego, please keep producing these fantastic space models. I’d love to see a Skylab model, a redesigned space shuttle model with more detail, an Atlas V, or even the early renderings of NASA’s Orion spacecraft.

I received this set for Christmas. It was one of the more challenging sets I’ve built but the finished product was definitely worth the time.the astronauts are amazing, the ascent and descent stages of the space craft are extremely detailed. I love all the gold and Crome elements included. This set was much larger then I thought and has a very nice display stand.I like the little details in the set like the little plaque and the footsteps on the moon. In conclusion I definitely recommend this set 10/10
