Technically Excellent, But Buggy

As a lifelong pianist myself who works on player pianos for a living, this LEGO Grand Piano set is a dream come true. This set takes into account an exquisite and masterful use of detail to create a mechanically accurate toy piano, down to the hammers and dampers. The bonus is that it used the PoweredUp app to recreate music and even replicate a player piano experience. However, this is when things get buggy.
The key reset function DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. The reset feature overestimates the rotation after the rotating orange Technic piece detects the static gray Technic piece, and causes the keys to be reset into an uneven down position by default. LEGO, PLEASE fix this! This is rather annoying and ruins an otherwise perfect set.
The keys are not accurate, and the app only detects whether A key is pressed, not WHICH key is pressed. I personally don't mind this, since I didn't expect this to be the case, but I know others do.
Overall, I'm happy with the set, but LEGO really needs to fix the bugs in the app that's programming the motor to overshoot its rotation!

Well my sons and I have built many large scale LEGO kits and love them all.
My wife however has never built one. I bought her this as a gift since she loves pianos. She assembled it and enjoyed every minute of it.
It makes a great centerpiece for the table LOL

Gorgerous Piano！

Overall. It is worthwhile. The only issue is the completed piano keys are not horizontally flat even though U reset the keys with the lego app. The battery runs out very fast. Remember to check out your batteries first if your piano does not play functionally！I wasted a while on this until I changed brand new batteries and it works perfectly afterwards.

I believe this is the most amazing set I have in my collection. It surpassed all expectations! I was afraid to purchase and not like it. My wife bought it for me for Christmas and I am just so excited about it! I love it!

Fantastic Set!!

After waiting two months for my backorder to arrive, it finally made it to my house a few days ago. Overall, it took me around 9 hours to complete, over the span of two days. And I have to say, this is definitely the best Lego set I have ever purchased. Lego could have easily just given us a set that looked liked a grand, but instead, we get something that not only looks good on the outside, but has a greatly complex inside to go along with it. The fact that you can build a working action to go along with the pushable keyboard really amazed me (wish the batteries came with it though). The price tag made me a little nervous, but having it in my hands now, I don’t regret a thing. I would highly, highly recommend this set.
Well done to the creator of the set, and way to go Lego for supporting it.

Great item! Would be even better if, in the Powered Up app, while in Listen Mode, the sheet music matched the song that plays -- A lot of piano players will notice that it doesn't match :). No worries though, can always change it in the next app update :)

I own many Lego sets and none have looked this cool when complete. It does not resemble Lego when done, more like a sales model from a famous Piano company. It does require a bit of Technic Lego experience where all moving parts must have small clearance to move freely. The set has some repetitive building but it requires care to not let the parts bind up when assembled. This set is so awesome when done its hard not to just stare at it and think to yourself this is Lego? Don't expect it to function as a real piano but it will teach you how a real piano keys function. There is a reset button on the app to get the keys back to flush position that works most of the time. Its a beautiful Lego build and highly recommend it to anyone who likes musical instruments.
