Missing pieces

This is very difficult to build when your missing the pieces. It's a cool build but its annoying to have to stop and dig through your our stash just find a pieces or two to keep the build going. Anyone with a little kid doing their best to be patient because they want to play can understand. Particularly for the money we spent on it.

Worth every penny!

What a marvelous addition to the Lego cityscape. It goes perfectly well with the others on the street like green grocer, detectives office, pet shop and others. It is as minutely detailed as the other sets and I believe will appeal to a larger variety of folks. I would highly recommend this set.

The Lego buildings are a favourite and this particular one reminds me of the corner garages of my childhood in europe. Excellent design.

Simply Delightful!!

From the bunny getting a shot at the vets to the yuppie with the old fashioned TV fixing himself some breakfast this is a thoroughly delightful build - just enough Lego in it to keep you paying attention lest you rebuild because of an error in colour etc. - Made me feel like I wanted to get in the bed on the third floor and take a nap - just that cozy up there! ut the girl on the roof to get some sun and give here a large drink and a newspaper as I did - endless possibilities here - get this as it will bring a smile to your face!

Good Set!

This is a good set! I love the detail that is going into these new modulars. The Tow Truck and the Gas Station also are great additions. The building design is a little strange with it taking up only half of the baseplate, but that is what makes it unique! Overall, this is a good set and I would recommend it!

A step back

This is my eighth Creator Expert Modular building, and it's always exciting to have a new one to do each year. I like that the garage offers a new layout, this time being a largely diagonal front to the building. It's also nice to have a new aesthetic, this time with a nice combination of blue windows against brown on the upper levels. The gas station down the bottom recalled memories of the Lego Shell builds from my childhood.
Unfortunately, the set feels a step back from the best of the modular line, especially when it comes to three things: repetition; lots of tiny pieces; and the interiors.
On repetition, the kit essentially has you build the same floor piece three times. It's hard on your fingers pressing those flat pieces together, and it was an identical build each time. The same held true for a number of elements of the facade.
On tiny pieces, there's nothing more annoying in a modular than doing lots of detail work with tiny 1x1 pieces. It's hard on your fingers, it's not very satisfying, and it's a lot of work for a small amount of the piece. I spent way more time on this exterior detail work than on building the fun items in the interiors.
As for the interiors themselves, they feel mostly under-done and cramped. The garage on the ground floor feels really unfinished and empty, a throwback to the minimalism of the palace cinema. It's nice that there's a working car hoist, but there's no car to hoist! There's also nothing hanging on the walls, and everybody knows that a mechanics always has a bunch of posters, calendars, and so on. The vet's waiting room has a weird layout that a mini-fig wouldn't actually be able to walk through because of so little room between a table and the parrot.
The series has gotten quite good in recent years, but doing this set felt like spending too much energy on the parts that are not fun, at the expense of having enough fun construction.

Awesome set

Lego did a very good job with this set. The techniques used to make this 1950s styled building may seem simple but they aren't. The designers chose very well the colours for the façade and I love all the details like the gas pump, vet stuff, the sunlounger at the top of the building and the white bunny. The blue tow truck is incredibly well done! And I really liked the working garage door and car lift.
I think that the vet and the apartment of the top floor should have doors (it's really strange to live in a place where anyone can enter... I needed to build a MOC door for the unlucky guy of the apartment).

Incredible detail

This was the first of the city group that I put together. I loved that each floor and room has so many small details. It is fun to see the building come together inside and out...better than having one end product. So I ended up ordering all the different ones to complete the whole “city block”.
