Great set but........

I really like the modular line as many do. Great style and building techniques. The Corner Garage is a fun build and worthy of the modular line. That said, more than any modular build, I have had many missing or wrong color pieces in this set. Don’t know if others have had this issue. It is frustrating to pay $200 and have to get pieces from my inventory of parts. Come on LEGO let’s focus on the quality control.

Each year I eagerly await the new modular building... and am usually really impressed with what Lego delivers.
I saw the Corner Garage and thought that it too would be a really awesome addition to my modular city. Unfortunately, this set doesn't deliver. It misses a lot of what makes the modular series great.
First, the level of detail in this set is really disappointing. In most of the other modular buildings, the interior is filled with really impressive little builds. This set disappoints in that respect. There's a little tool chest on the first floor and little tiny builds on the second and third floors. When you compare that with the really detailed interiors of the Parisian Restaurant, Brick Bank, and Detective's Office, it's really disappointing.
Second, while the 45 degree angle looks really cool, it's very unstable as you build it. On both the second and third floors, the pieces repeatedly came off as I added windows and trim pieces. It's more stable once completed, but usually modular buildings are more stable throughout the building process.
Third, there's a lack of a story line. With the Parisian Restaurant, there was the proposal dinner. With the Detective Office, there was the bootlegging of cookies. With the Brick Bank, there was the whole money laundering joke. This set has no story line, unless you count the Indiana Jones 'no snakes' joke on the front window.
Given the high price tag of this model, I was expecting a bit more, even if the price per piece count was reasonable.
Now to the parts of the set that are great... First, the garage door operation is really a great design. I hope that Lego begins to use that design in other applications.
Second, the fact that the tow truck has a working arm is pretty great. That said, the part of the garage that 'lifts' the truck up isn't well designed. It only lifts it up a little bit, the control is rough, and it's really hard to make it work without having the truck fall forwards or backwards.
Third, the outside of the building is well designed and detailed. Unlike the plain interior, the exterior lives up to the modular reputation in terms of details.
I'm a huge Lego fan and I especially love the yearly modular building releases. This set kinda disappointed me. Luckily, it will be placed next to the other buildings in the series that prove that Lego can do better.
Hopefully next January we'll see a new set with more interior details. Until then, we'll all be guessing what that new building will be. A police station or train station would be nice.

I knew from initial announcement of this set that I was going to need 2 sets for what I wanted to create. So I ordered one from you Lego online and drove to the store to buy another and a few days later, built this gem. Definitely recommend for anyone and definitely get 2 or more sets to create what I think Lego should had done in the first place.

Not what I would expect from lego

I do not know where to begin. I suppose that I will list the pros and cons first. PROS: Very nice on the outside, Cool car lift mechanism, nice color on outside top two floors, Nice angle. CONS: Angled wall limits floor space, Few interior details, 1950's look (More on that later), No floor tiling on ground floor (More on that too) Obvious flaw with bottom level stairs, all areas are connected with no doors (More on that too), major price increase.
More Details on Cons:
1950's look: This looks very cool alone, but considering that the all the other modular buildings look like old Victorian homes (excluding a few), this building looks very out of place. The diner also had this issue.
No floor tiling on bottom floor: This is the first building since the theater/cinema that does not have floor tiling! Although some people will argue that a garage has no need for floor tiling, I still would have appreciated at least something to make it so that the minifigures were standing on something other than flimsy baseplate.
All floors are connected without any doors: I think that this is a major problem. This is especially bad when you realize that a minifigure could enter the apartment and rob it just by entering the vet's office. I would really appreciate a door there.
Overall View of the Set: I think that this set has a very nice exterior, but the interior desires much more love. I rate this 2/5.
P.S. Due to some unknown bug, i am unable to give product recommendations. You should have someone fix that lego support people! Anyway, I would recommend the downtown diner and the parisian restraunt.

Underwhelming interior
on March 1, 2019

The exterior looks great, as ever. The Dark Orange really pops, especially in relation to other modular buildings. Overall I really like the way this set looks amongst my row of modulars. And in terms of value per piece this one is a good deal.
Where the set underwhelms is in the interior, especially on the ground floor. Other modulars have a tiled first floor, for example, and multiple rooms and features inside. This is a bare-baseplate, single-room interior. The level of detail on the inside is not very high. The 2nd and 3rd floor contain a Vet's office and an apartment, which are both more detailed than the Garage, but still on the plain side.

Good But Not Great

Pros: the build was more fun and interesting than I expected. I really like the vet's office and the apartment up top. The truck is also a nice plus and overall, I'm glad to have it.
Cons: IMO, it's the most awkward in the modular lineup when it comes to aesthetic, specially in its placement. I have four corner buildings with nine other modulars and they all mesh fairly well with this 50s - 60s look and feel, when lined up. But this set makes the surrounding buildings look a bit off due to its shape and its gas station theme. The gas station area somehow cheapens the "neighborhood/town feel" for me. If you look at it from the side, it looks very thin. However, if looked at diagonally, it's impressive and looks quite nice! The cost is also a bummer (the Police Station has 380 more pieces at the same price point), and from the research I've done, it looks like this particular modular is one of, if not the least sold set. Most likely in part, to that price point.

Amazing..

It's sad you have to wait almost a year in between these city builds.. it makes making my city so much harder.. but when builds like this are released its worth the wait. So many different features and detail.. right down to the garage door that goes up and down and vet hospital that looks like something out of the 50s. Love it and can't wait for the next one.. it's too bad these sets dont include light kits but that's ok.. because then it's easier to customize

Good addition to any city

A great build with a good amount of detail inside and out. The facade is very nicely detailed and the garage signage makes it looks great from the street. The functioning garage door and lift are very nice. The vet's office and apartment are more detailed than the garage, which lacks design and accessories. Overall I really enjoyed building it and it looks great in my city.
