My favorite build

We purchased the additional electronic components because the hand crank took all the fun out of it. Definite challenge and some of the components took time but well worth the work in the end.

Awesome Set

Challenging and exciting. All pieces must be well-pressed. Just be careful not to put weight on the tracks while playing (my daughter did), otherwise they will fall apart. Overall, it’s awesome! We now have a little theme park at home ❤️

Great ride for my mini figures
on April 7, 2021

This was a great and fun build. It has great play value as I have been giving all the mini figures around my house a ride. The only thing I wish LEGO would have done differently is to add a double base. I used my own random base pieces to put one on and it made the entire unit much more stable for moving. Also, some mini sand bags for testing the first run would be nice, and was needed, as you will see from my video of the First Run.

Amazing set, must buy!

I will start off by saying this is an amazing set, the only bad thing is that its hard to move once built.
The MSRP on this set makes it hard to swallow buying, but I will tell you, its well worth the price tag! This set is a working roller coaster! You turn a crank and the cars go up the hill and once it starts going down the other side gravity takes it back to the start!
Lots of detail from a person selling pictures of the riders as they come out, to minifig faces that can be changed to show their feelings about the ride to a frog pond and a lost hat.
You also have two car sets, a queue, a breaking system and a resting area.
Let's talk about motors for a moment though. The ones it talks about to get in the booklet are retired and so you need to either get the Boost Creative toolkit (17101) or the powered up motor (45303) and the powered up hub (88009) the hub also comes with a number of powered train sets. A motor is not needed, but it sure makes it fun to sit back and watch it.
I say this is a must buy if you have the space for it.

Worth The Wait
on May 31, 2018

For many years fans have anticipated an actual roller coaster, and I can say it was definitely worth the wait.
The set is huge, which is not surprising due to the skeletal nature of the set. I love the booths set up, as well as the scenic route a minifigure takes while waiting in line. I was also impressed with the strength of the set, as the pillars and beams are held down very firmly.
While this is a great set there are a few notable flaws. First off (if it wasn't obvious) the set is very hard to move. You have to be very careful where you pick it up from. Second of all, the track pieces detach somewhat easily, especially after transporting the set. Another minor annoyance is how repetitive the build is. Yes, it's to be expected, but at times it gets annoying, especially when linking together 203 individual chains.
While not necessarily a flaw there is one personal disappointment. While Lego is all about rebuilding, it can not be said for the set. I was looking forward to being able to create my own roller coasters, but found that it is extremely difficult to rebuild. The pieces and structure styles included are specifically for this set, which makes it very hard to make new creations. Even as a Lego Expert, it would take a genius to successfully create an operating coaster moc. I have made several attempts, even following the instructions on some parts, but either ran out of pieces, or found errors in the design of the coaster. All that to say, Lego did a great job designing this. Clearly, much effort was put into it.
Despite the minor flaws, the whole set is impressive; the details, the functionality, and the size, all make it worth the purchase. Now let's just hope Lego makes another one with a loop the loop or corkscrew.

Love this set!!

I have been a fan of Lego ever since I was a child. This set is probably my favorite. ( and I have many sets) It was about an 8 hour build. I enjoyed all the building techniques especially the mechanics of the ride system. Bravo to the designers for such a clever design! I already had a PF motor and battery pack, so I didn’t have to buy them. The price per part was in line with other sets. I look forward to more coaster designs and adding this to my Lego City.
