Awesome Ride!

Hi, all at Lego. Congratulations on creating the best lego set... This rollercoaster now completes our theme park we now have to expand our table for it all to fit. This item has been a finger sore builder. Which means its well worth the frustration of all those poles and round wide discs that were needed to build it. Plus the crossbar assembly was nipping the skin every time. But despite it, I stayed up till 2 am to complete it. Then the following morning to attach the chain which was quite therapeutic to join all those tiny links... Still not healthy for m thumb and forefinger....lol Overall a fantastic build and I love how you can crank the carts up then they zoom around fast once around the final top bend. Great looking characters even I'm in it. Yes, I'm a photographer too! I also love rollercoasters. My husband and I hope to one-day visit the Lego house. Trust me patents when I say this....not for under 16 unless totally supervised. Too many tiny parts. Enjoy this guy's, it's the best! Motor on very soon.

Most Fun Set Ever!

This set is amazing and the techniques used are brilliant. The gear system is incredibly intricate and functional. Whoever thought this design up is a genius. Once built it is a joy to watch both sets of cars fly around the track. This one will wow everyone, whether they are lego fans or not. I have waited for this one for years and the wait was well worth it!!

The Lego'est Lego set of all.

I couldn't wait to build this set, bought it the first day it was available. It was every lego fan has been waiting for. For as much empty space this design has, it was a long build, 10-12 hours. the cars and track work extremely well, as that was my primary concern. However the lift chain mechanism can be problematic. Train don't always catch, or slip of the chain, and the tension has been an issue. I have played with adding or remove a link or two but the problem still persist.

Hey there! It's awesome to hear that you're enjoying your LEGO® Roller Coaster! I've just tested out the set myself, and it definitely shouldn't have any troubles with the lift chain. I'd recommend double-checking the gears; from what you've described, it sounds like one might be a little out of place. Make sure that all of them are the right size for the right spot and turned the right direction too. It'll also be a good idea to look at the rubber band you place on page 235, step 459. A little rebuilding should give you much better results!

finally lego has a roller coaster!

I have been waiting for lego to come out with a roller coaster for years, and now they finally have! I have to be honest, I spend so much time trying to decided whether or not i should buy something. I spent two good weeks trying to decide on this one, and finally ordered it. It arrived about a week later and I had absolutely no regrets! The build itself wasn't as repetitive as I thought, and was actually really fun seeing it all come together! The set itself is massive, way bigger than it looks in pictures. The rollercoaster runs super smoothly, and makes an incredible play experience, or, like it does for me, makes a great display. The minifigures are awesome too, all with great facial expressions and printing. The best part about this set in my opinion are all off the small details: the photo booth, the station, the height marker, and countless others! If you are even considering this set in the least, buy it, you won't have any regrets if you do. Lego, you hit it out of the park with this set, and I hope you come out with some more rollercoasters like this one (maybe with loops and corkscrews too)!

A childhood dream come true
on May 30, 2018

As a child I dreamed of building an actual working roller coaster out of Lego. I experimented with using train tracks and Technic beams in different ways, then with some 'hybrids' using metal modelling wire, but I never really got a satisfactory result. I have since seen and admired some really great creations on YouTube, but they were all too big - they worked well as a showpiece, but wouldn't easily fit into a minifigure scale setting, so I wasn't tempted to re-ignite the dream.
I bought my daughter the 'Lego Friends' coaster last year, which is nice but reinforced my belief that a 'real' roller coaster at minifig scale just wouldn't be possible without some serious customisation.
So when I saw this set - a fairly extensive track with good height and a reasonable footprint - I had to have it!
Now, I was a bit skeptical about whether the chain mechanism on the first slope would actually work properly (without snapping every other revolution) and whether the carriages would actually fly round the track smoothly and consistently, but I have to report that it really does all work - whether you keep it as hand-cranked or attach a motor (which can be done with no additional modification).
The design really is excellent - it looks great (structural strength is achieved without a whole load of exposed Technic beams and such) and the track itself manages to look like a convincing roller coaster circuit without being compromised by the motion having to be entirely gravity-fed (as in real life). Both things (the look and the motion) have been well achieved with the carriages progressing securely with low friction - it really is excellent.
The technical components are extremely well thought-out (and I suspect took a number of iterations to get right). The gearing is perfect and the only visible components are the ones you'd expect to see on a real roller coaster.
The other parts of the layout - the ticket booth, juice cabin, queuing path etc. are all very nice, but I would have bought this even without them.
I can only imagine the possibilities of combining 2 or 3 of these sets together, but for the time being if you've ever wanted to build a Lego coaster, I can't recommend this highly enough.

Spent a lot of time on this and really am happy with the outcome. the rollercoaster in action is fast and fun, especially with the power functions add on. Overall worth every penny. could use a few more mini characters for the second car, but its easily fixable.

Best Lego Experience
on May 28, 2018

I don't write many reviews but I have built hundreds of Lego sets including the new Large Millenium Falcon, Giant R2D2, The big Disney Castle and most all of the Lego trains.
This set was very entertaining. You have the vendor venues as stand alone scenes, and the track and structure for the engineering bug in you and the various functions of the set.
The quality of this set is second to none. It runs perfect and it is very solid.
The grandkids will love playing with this and it will hold up to their activities. If it does break, no problem, we will fix it together.
Lego, here is the wishlist for future:
- Expansion set with more track etc. - 360 degree loops, - Alternate themes we can add to this set like, wild animals, star wars or space, Dinosaurs etc
I really enjoyed the various building techniques that I haven't seen before.
