WORKS LIKE THE REAL THING!

I'm afraid this was a complete impulse purchase, it's a 'must have' for those collecting the amusement park series. Its scale is impressive and really works with the size of the mini figures (it's not a dinky version of a rollercoaster). The build is fun and while there is a bit of repetition the stages are varied and you see progress quickly. Only minor cons as others have said: Stickers! They are pain to align correctly for the price of the set I think these should be directly printed. The trains need help engaging with the chain lift on the first run, but once it gets going the momentum solves that problem. Quite unwieldy to move, so build where it's going to live if possible. Other than that it's super fun, works really well. Running the two trains together works well and the timing works, so there will be no need for the mini figure ambulance. I love the transfer track so one train can be taken out of service. It's crammed with sweet little details and humour. If only I was small enough to ride it myself

Best Set

This set is amazing. I did not know how large it was until I saw it on display in a Lego Store. The detail in the grounds and minifigures are amazing. Building the base of this set on carpet is a bad idea. When I finished the build, I tested out the pulley system to get the carts to the top. When I twisted the lever, it made a weird cranking sound and made the ride up the track very choppy. I found that you have to make sure that all of the gears have to have room to move around. Other than that, this set is amazing.

Amazing Set

While the price tag is hefty, this set is truly amazing. Great build experience. The mechanisms are so much fun. There are lots of reviews already, so I'll just address a few of the concerns that appear in a few reviews:
1) The set is very, very solid. We moved it down a flight of stairs and it didn't even wiggle. (If you try to move it with one person, you'll probably want to separate it into halves first.)
2) Designing your own tracks is challenging. Roller coasters are engineering marvels and designing one that works is a highly complex task (this is true of video game coaster builds, other toy systems, etc.) This isn't a fault of the set.
3) The Pirate coaster (LEGO's other coaster set) doesn't have the right pieces (45 degree inclines) for building taller coasters, so buying several of those won't be a substitute for this one.
Anyway, we loved building this set. It's impossible to walk by and not want to turn the crank a few times.

Interesting repetitivity

As soon as I first open the box, I was surprised by the size of the built... Enormous !
Even though it was very repetitive with the columns, it was an interesting built. Very satisfied with the fact that everything works!

One of the best designed sets i've seen

Having been late to the party with Creator builds, i've built the latest 6 Creator buildings, Disney Castle and the Ghostbusters Firehouse. They were all brilliant in their own way but this coaster set takes things to a whole new interactive level
The build enjoyment is phased. most of it is excellent, and its amazing to finally build things that have moving parts like engines, tracks, guide wheels etc. Sure there are some less exctiving parts, building struts from 530 identical white cylinders for one!, but overall the design of this is so good that its a total pleasure to buuld.
My only word of caution is that whereas some sets may be slighltly forgiving, or at least obvious if you make a mistake - this set is not. it MUST be perfect, right down the the number of links in the drive chain, or things will not sit right, be balances, hold the track at the right angles etc. There was at least 2-3 segments i had to pull apart and re-dor in order to get it right.
the end result is a joy to behold though. I didn't mind buying the power pack, but tbh, i think i prefer to control it manually. it "feels" better

I'M GONNA HURL!

It was a decision between some small LEGO sets or the Roller Coaster. Eventually, I came to my senses and bought the coaster. When we got home, it took me almost 20 minutes to set up my station. Then the fun began. It took me nearly 2 days, but I got it done with plenty of winter break left to spare. LEGO, you never seem to disappoint me.

There is a LOTS of post and pins to put into the posts but the reward is great. I've made it part with my 6 years old (got to do the hard part) but when she saw the cart flying down, she was as trilled as the ryders were;)
