Non Rolling Coaster

After much fan fair I finally broke the bank and decided this was a set I just had to have. I saw the set was retiring & just had to have it with my collection. However, after about a month of play & display the coaster does not work. The wheels are completely unfunctional. At best the coaster will go down to the first turn around & then it just sticks there. I think allow axels would help this set in the future.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A roller coaster should of course be able to 'roll'! We'd suggest you double-check your build. Sometimes there may be a piece just a little off from where it should be. Also check and make sure the wheels aren't pressed too tightly into the cars. They need to have a little bit of space to turn around freely.

The function got way worse after a week!!!!

It was a fun but also somewhat repetitive build, when I finished, the function worked nicely.After a week the chain made loud screeching noises and the wheels that push the cart around the curve started making noises, and it had more friction. I took the chain off and counted it 6 times and I had 203 chain links. I took of some links and I put some on, nothing works. I took apart the functions and thoroughly checked them,nothing.I spent 400 dollars on this thing for it to break in a week. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hmmm...sounds like something went a little off in your build. If something's a little out of place (or not pressed tightly enough together, or gears pressed too tightly) it might shift further out of place as time goes on and the roller coaster moves. Rebuilding should do the trick, and if you need a hand, you can get in touch at LEGO.com/service.

So Much Fun once you get it going!

I've never written a review before. I started with Lego sets in the 1960s, when all one had were gears, windows, wheels and a simple motor. I purchased this set because I was fascinated with the prospect of a roller coaster that would run itself! I bought the motor along with the set. The build wasn't that difficult, but the payoff is how great you feel once you have successfully figured out how to run TWO coasters at the same time! Instruction were fine except for what I note below...i'm confused to this day. All parts were there. My only question (or should I say puzzlement) is the piece that pulls out that is attached to a rubber ring. Not the rubber band that applies tension to the 203 links or to the rollers that move the coasters along at the top but at ground level. What's it's purpose? To slow down the coaster? Very confusing and the fact that I couldn't understand it stopped me in my tracks...

This set is absolutely amazing! It is so unique and has a big playability factor. It is very big and looks exactly like how I would imagine a Lego coaster would look. The only complaint I have is with its moveability, once you have it in one spot, it is basically impossible to pick it up without dropping it or breaking something. Overall, it has great value and I would definitely recommend this!

Amazing but careful with the technique

This product has been on my wishlist since it came to LEGO and it finally arrived a few days ago. As an intermediate builder, I was worried this would be too difficult, but the instructions were clear and easy to follow (I only made a couple mistakes). There are some unclear instructions (including the wheels on the top), but it is noticeable. Therefore you are able to fix it. In conclusion I really enjoyed building this set and look forward to possibly more fairground sets.

The roller coaster was amazing. It is very sturdy and it works as I thought. This is a fun set to play with. The only drawback are the 203 tiny black chain pieces, which took a long time to string together and hurt our hands. My 7 year old built this set. He thought some parts were hard determine the placement of the pieces by just looking at the pictures. This is our favorite set, taking first place from the Ferris wheel. Let’s see how it holds up to long term play.

A future classic

I think this might be my favorite LEGO set yet. The aesthetic is classic LEGO, with simple colors and attention to detail, and it looks great. It also fulfills a general fantasy I've always had to own and operate a theme park, especially with roller coasters, lol. Very satisfying build and it's so much fun to play with. Cats agree. I think we will look back on this as one of the all-time greatest LEGO sets ever designed and released.
