Best Family Build Yet
on July 1, 2018
Posted by: m5k177j
We are a family of 3 (soon to be 4) who love to build with Lego during our free time. We usually buy Lego sets that our son(age 5) picks out for birthdays and other holidays. We generally build a set over the course of a few days or weeks one bag at a time before bed time.
This set took the longest for us to complete, but was very enjoyable to build. My son loved the Minifigures and other accessories like the juice stand and cotton candy cart, while my wife and I were blown away with the design of the frame and intricate mechanisms. My son also liked helping me with the gear assemblies, chain drive, and other complicated sections.
Most importantly, unlike a few of the sets we've built in the past, this one has had the greatest play value. My son and I have spent hours loading the cars with various themed characters and acting out their trips to the amusement park. Most recently was Sensei Wu and the Ninjas driving the Ultrasonic Raider to the roller coaster for few hundred laps and some cotton candy. :D
While the price is rather high, I believe this set is a great value, especially if you or your kids like to play with Lego sets just as much as building them.
The only sort of con for me, is that it takes up a lot of space. We've designated a coffee table to it, and it cant really be taken apart into smaller sections for storage. But its size is also what makes it so incredible and fun.

Son Loved Building It
on January 1, 2019

Got this for our son, age 11, for Christmas 2018. The order process was fine and delivery was great, product arrived without any damage.
Our son was excited to get it and started building it immediately, aroud 8 hours over a few days. The instructions were pretty simple to follow, I only had to help a few times, and we only had one major error when the build was complete.
The most frustrating part was that there were many pieces missing that we had to raid his other legos for. I beleive we neded up with around 20 key peieces that were missing. Out of the 4k+ that is not too bad. Just be prepared for that.
Overall I would recommend this. It can be challenging, for an 11 year old, but it helps them perservere when the going get tough or think of alternate ways of dealing with problems, however one mistake caused a melt down when the roller coaster would not work right, until we fixed it and luckily the mistake was in the second half of the second book of instructions.

Oh no! That's no fun. If those wayward pieces aren't just stuck in the packaging or hiding somewhere in your son's building space, we're here to help! Go to LEGO.com/Service and choose the "Bricks & Pieces" option to request replacement parts.

Entertaining product and challenging build

I needed a new hobby and Lego Creator builds have fit that bill for me. This build was challenging, engaging, and just complicated enough to keep me on my toes. The mechanics of the lift chain are quite intricate so if you don’t pay attention I could see the whole mechanism failing. My only gripe is that for the cost of the kit it doesn’t come with the motor and battery pack. I’ll likely buy that because it’s tricky to launch the train and get it to attach to the lift chain if you don’t have the timing right with your left and right hands. Overall I would recommend this build to anyone who is up for a challenge.

defiantly worth the money

hopefully they have other track parts and designs to come this was worth every penny. Im currently clearing space to combine 3 of these along with 2 pirate ship coasters. There is a lot of repetitive parts that may look the same but catch you off guard if you go wrong but once built its extremely sturdy which was a worry before my purchase. The only fault or small issue i found was the chain in the end i added 1 or 2 extra links but youtube can help.

Amazing Set. Fun to Build. A+++

It was a lot of fun to build. Even though it has a lot of repetition. It’s not crazy repetition like some other sets I’ve built. The set is built sturdily and can be easily transported in one piece.
I love the little accessories and kiosks added to give it a more theme park feel. The track looks amazing and is very well designed.
The biggest flaw for this set is definitely the lift chain. I had to recount the number of pieces about a dozen times.
If you have the Ferris Wheel and the Carousel, then you absolutely need to get this one.

Looks Great but Fragile
on July 5, 2018

I'm a long time Lego fan and Coaster Enthusiast. Over the years I've purchased several Lego Creator Expert sets including all of the carnival rides. When I heard about the Roller Coaster I was extremely excited. I finally picked it up a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to get building. It's definitely a repetitive build but that didn't really bother me. What does bother me is how fragile the set is. For playability I expect the set to be reasonably stable but I'm having a hard time getting parts to stay together. The pressure put on different bricks from the cranks and chain seem to cause bricks to come loose and I find myself frequently tightening the connections between the bricks. The set is also extremely difficult to move the the functions don't always work (ie: The train doesn't always make it to the lift hill from the station). Not a bad set by any means but definitely not as good as it could have been.

Thanks for your review. I'm sorry to hear that you're having some difficulties with your Roller Coaster. From what you've described, something's likely just a little off in the build. It'd be a good idea to rebuild the sections that are giving you trouble and any other sections that support them. You'll also want to be sure that all your gears have enough room to turn smoothly. You should have much better results!

Stop complaining, already!

Received as a gift. Okay, so it’s obvious to even a casual observer that by their very nature, some things are going to be ‘repetitive’ as far as the build is concerned. Taj Mahal, Tower Bridge, Roller Coaster. All have characteristics that involve using the same structural component over and over and over. But, the result is very rewarding and very true to the structures actual shape and form. The modular building series, in general, is not repetitive. The Creator expert series has many sets representing actual buildings that, by their very nature, have to involve repetitive actions.
This is a fun build and an impressive set once completed.

Great set with rooms for improvements!

This set has lots of repetitive steps. Building up all those columns was not fun, but I like the formwork looks this set has. That being said, I do think this set should be designed more stable! I feel like they could have used more technics pieces to achieve that!
Note: The Statue of Liberty does not come with this set! I think It is a neat addition.

Hey there! It's awesome that you're enjoying your LEGO® Roller Coaster. It definitely should be pretty sturdy, though. You might want to double-check that all the pieces are pressed together tightly and that nothing's even a little bit out of place.
If you'd like a hand troubleshooting it, you can get in touch with us at LEGO.com/Service.
