My favorite set

I absolutely love this set. I got this set for Christmas a while back, and this is what got me back into Lego. I had watched so many videos and watched so many reviews on what made this set worth it for people and I just had to pick it up. This reignited my spark and it made me absolutely love lego again. This set is retired so there is not an easy way to get this, but if you can for a relatively good price, pick it up.

Disappointing experience

Bought this set a few months back and just got to build it.
Due to the nature of the Star Destroyer, there’s a lot of repetitive steps. What threw me off this build was the fact that 3 pieces were missing, one plate was broken and at least 5 (6x14) were off color. This is the second set where gray pieces are lighter in color. For the price, I’m a bit disappointed.

Fun but irritating build

So! I was super excited to finally get my hands on this ucs set! I see other reviews where people talk about the color bricks they use is annoying and you can see them through the set(true BTW) and how its flimsy and not sturdy(also true to an extent) but its not wobbly like you barely move it and it breaks. Although throughout the build when you apply pieces you somehow manage to break off other pieces and things become disconnected and thats really annoying. Like there's almost no way to avoid it. Could be user error but either way I know I'm not that clumsy. The end results ofcourse are amazing! This wish Lego would add some pieces to this to make it sturdier. That being said I'm glad with this buy but could've been maybe 50 dollars to 100 cheaper. Still if you're sitting around thinking you should buy it or not, just stop and buy it. Heading for that ucs falcon soon!

The absolute most painful building experience
on August 17, 2021

This has to be the absolute worst LEGO set I have ever built. While building the plates kept falling off no matter how hard I pressed them together. Even after completing this set parts would still come off of the build. I do not recommend this set unless you are an expert builder, and have incredible strength.

That doesn't sound like the fun we want you to have. Be sure to check the previous steps for any building mistakes, as that can cause issues like that. If nothing's wrong there, we'd be happy to take a closer look with you on LEGO.build/Service-BV!

Display use only, repetitive build
on November 18, 2022

(Dear Lego: These reviews would be much easier to read if you didn't strip blank lines out!)
We have over 25 kits in our collection, and this is the first one that we've built and decided not to keep.
My biggest issue with it is that it's just a display model, so it's not designed to be handled—it's the only Lego kit I've ever put together that's actually built *on* its display stand. It's also very fragile; parts will fall off at the slightest impact. As such, it's really something you build, then put on the shelf never to touch again.
Moving it is complicated; you can risk moving it as-is, or remove a top section and use a built-in handle to help. Either way, slow and steady is the way to go. It feels like it could all crumble at the slightest bump.
Assembling the frame was fun—there's lots of really cool engineering work to make everything fit together. But assembling the actual model on top of the frame wasn't as much fun. There is a lot of tedious work to put on all the surface decorations, and everything is repeated twice, once for each side.
The front part of the destroyer consists of four very long flat plates, and they don't actually tie together all that well. If you bend a plate during assembly, the nose of your destroyer won't line up.
There are some neat detail touches under the destroyer…but they're invisible unless you have it displayed high enough to not be able to see the top, or your friends have to crouch down to look underneath.
Beyond that, though, there's none of the usual cool stuff you can show off in this kit—no retracting landing gear like on the Shuttle, no working engines like in Titanic, no folding wheels like on the Back to the Future Time Machine, etc. It's just a skeleton frame covered by decorated flat gray boards.
The set comes with only two generic guard figures…no Darth Vader for the ship he spent a ton of time on?
If you want the set for display, it is stunning, at least from medium distance. It's imposing, and the surface detailing does make it interesting to look at. But when you get close, you start to notice the gaps and sections that don't quite line up with each other.
Unless you're a die-hard Star Wars fan, my recommendation in a $600+ kit would be Titanic over the Star Destroyer—it's a much more interesting build, it's rock solid, and it's designed to be taken apart and looked at ... and yet it still looks great on the shelf.

The parts keep falling apart. Need more lego two or 4 length parts to hold parts together.

Plates Fall Off
on August 3, 2021

I have been buying and building LEGO for 9 years and this set is the worst set I've ever got, The plates split and when you push them flat the ball joints that hold the plates on fall of. Every time I move it it breaks

Too Frustrating

The set started out very fun, and awesome. Now, after being stuck at trying to get the four large hull pieces on top for months, I give up. You can't get the ball bearing type piece to snap down into the holding piece without the larger hull piece just falling apart. And before customer service asks me to review my build, I have rebuilt the hull pieces (cause they fall apart anyway) probably five times but still have the same issue. This set is horrible.
