Genius design

Maybe I'm just a lego newbie (this is basically my second ever lego set) but some of the design choices in this thing make me rethink what can be done with lego. I got this for my "empire" collection and this set takes center stage. Looks amazing and very movie realistic.

great build

it was a very fun build and totally worth the money. I'm 14 and i spent a while saving up, and it was worth it! It was not very challenging for me, but i am an expert builder. I had lots of fun customizing the inside, which had lots of open space. The only bad thing is the the larger plates do not hold together that well.

Massive Set
on August 11, 2020

This set is massive. It was very enjoyable to build and looks great. Nice details, though I felt they could have add just a few more. Just a warning, this thing is huge. Make sure you have space to display it, before buying.

AWESOME

Alright the only reason I put it at 1 star play experience is because it is more of a collectors item and not so much as a play item as maybe a hundred dollar star destroyer that retired but its an awesome build and I love having it in my room and seeing all the tiny details they but in to make It look like a real star destroyer from the movie

Very fragile

I put it together with no problems. The problem came when it was time to move it. Do not ever bump it when moving. It is very fragile. Had to take it apart and rebuild it which was frustrating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Impressive model

I’ve always liked the Star destroyer. When Lego announced this set, I knew I wanted it. I just had to find a place to display it. I have several UCS sets and this one the longest in physical size, although the Falcon comes close. Lego has come a long way from the basic building sets of my childhood. This set is comprised of a central skeleton with the hull plates, deck assemblies and the bridge assembly attached to it. It is impressive and very detailed. The way it is assembled and the connecting points are pretty creative. However, for the cost, Lego should have made more detailed shield generator spheres on the bridge rather than the smooth half spheres provided. The to scale Tantive IV was a nice touch. It is fairly sturdy, but this is a display piece and not a toy. As for value, the Falcon cost the same and came with over 2700 more pieces. But I enjoyed this build, and always wanted a model star destroyer. Overall, I am very happy with it.

“She’s a classic”
on June 21, 2021

I rate the set itself a 10/10. It has fascinating details, and the category of playability shouldn’t be added to these ‘UCS’ sets. I quite enjoy the various building techniques that were applied, especially bags 1-5. The Technic bits in the building were quite intriguing and something I quite enjoyed. However I do feel the set had flaws just like everything. One flaw I see is the paneling of the gray pieces. In some areas you can see red, yellow and other pieces under the gray panels you add to the ship. Another problem is the lack of mini figures. The two imperial mini figures are quite nice on their own and compared to other imperial officers. However it would’ve been more encouraging to a Lego customer to receive a exclusive chrome Stormtrooper (and one more exclusive imperial droid or other mini figure) if they wanted to buy the set. Although its flaws are noteworthy, I do still recommend this set, if you have the space, money and time to build it. Great job on this set Lego!!

Terrific display piece

The build was absolutely amazing, the ship itself is surprisingly sturdy and stable. The ship looks stunning and the level of detail is immense. Overall, even for the hefty price tag, I’d definitely say if you’ve got the money to burn then this set is the way to go. The only gripe I’ve got is that this is Darth Vader’s star destroyer, but the set for some reason doesn’t have a Darth Vader minifigure. Only a very minor problem, but not a massive one as you can just buy a Vader fig online for a few dollars. Luckily I had one sitting around to put on the stand.
