Good set, but major flaws are apparent
on January 13, 2023

This is truly an incredible model. It knows what it is, and what it isn’t. It is a detailed display piece that holds up well… if you don’t move it and you ignore the rear bottom body panels that are flimsy at best, and impossible to keep together at worst. Ignoring that problem, the set is impressively big, and allows the builder to enjoy their work when it is finished. The stand, while passable, comes apart too easily. For MSRP, there are much better options. But this is the set for you if you want a giant triangle on display

That isn't how this iconic starship can start its mission. Could you please double-check your building steps for the rear? We also recommend pressing all bricks together until you hear the 'click' sound. We're always happy to have a closer look with you at LEGO.build/Service-BV.

Great set!

In my humble opinion, this set is for enthusiasts that missed out on set 10030......overall great improvements with Lego Technic! It truly is a showpiece and a great compliment to the UCS Tie Fighter and Falcon! Just needs a Darth Vader......it’s his ship!
Highly recommended!

Great build to share with son/daughter
on September 19, 2020

This set is massive...19 sets of bags (usually 2 or 3 bags per set, and within some of the bags are smaller bags with smaller pieces). We built this over a period of several weeks (not rushed) and usually one set of bags at a time.
Great to watch the build progressive...frame of Star Destroyer, then panels, engines, bridge, etc. Once you start, be prepared for it to take up a lot of space to build (both the actual lego model, as well as the pre-sort of bricks for each bag set...plus the giant instruction manual).
Loved it all...wish they would re-release the Super Star Destroyer again, or even a Dreadnaught.
Thanks for the fun...our family enjoyed it.

Looks impressive, but structure is very unstable
on September 11, 2020

This is a very impressive piece, offering amazing detail. The structure's shell itself is very unstable, however. I am certain this is because of the very long, flat structures that comprise most of this piece. These long, flat structures cause a lot of torque on when there is any movement, which loosens the other parts or causes them to come off.
I took it apart multiple times to make sure all the flat pieces were all still interlocked properly, but every time I had to move it, even a little, I'd hear pieces snapping off on the inside (which is mostly hollow).
After multiple attempts to ensure the parts were firmly together, I had to finally glue certain pieces together to get the structure to remain stable.
I laugh at the Lego rep's response to someone else who mentioned this problem. The Lego rep said to 'make sure all parts are secure'. The problem is that the parts can be secure, then unsnap or become loose (due to all the torque) when the set is moved even a little. It's a poor design; I'm not sure what tests Lego ran to make sure this was a sound design. I understand the set is not made to be moved often, but the build process itself does require moving the structure sometimes and even that would cause parts to loosen or come off.
Also be sure not to underestimate the volume of space this set takes - it's massive, but gorgeous.

Not worth the money.

While this set is absolutely beautiful and a great display piece, that's about all it's good for. I was not pleased at all with the design of this set. There is no interior (which I knew about before purchase) and structural pieces feel like they will fall apart under the weight of itself. The stand could tip the set with a strong sneeze, and outer plate pieces feel weak and flimsy to the touch in their construction and support of eachother. I had to make many modifications myself to this set just so it felt like it wouldnt fall apart. Many of the steps where seperatly built pieces that are added to the main build have very tight and almost impossible clearances. Dont buy this set unless you're living arrangements are permanent for the rest of your life because I already feel like this set will demolish itself in any kind of move. This is one of the only lego sets I regret purchasing, and I've been building for the last 16 years.

Great set bad execution

I love this set it was fun to build but the design for it was done poorly. I didn't expect it to be 90% big panel pieces that don't stay together at all, or if they do it is by 1-3 studs. I mean for the price of it they should have put in some more time in the thought process to make it more sturdy and secure. I now have to rebuild it and glue it together something I never want to have to do with Lego.... I do love the set just wish it had more pieces that made it more secure where a small shake makes pieces fall off and ruin everything.

Well worth it's weight.

While the piece count is about half the millennium falcon, it actually weighs more. If you factor in set weight against price vs cost per piece, this is a better deal than the falcon.
While it's lacking an interior and it's minifig count is disappointingly low, the structure is leagues ahead of the 2002 UCS Star Destroyer. Compared to that one that's held together with hopes and dreams, this is a very sturdy set that even comes with a carrying handle!
It's also a more accurate model. The proportions are way better. It's longer, a bit wider, and shorter compared to 2002. If you took both side-by-side next to the original Devastator model used in the movie (The Destroyer in A New Hope that it's modeled after), there'd be no contest. This is far more accurate.
If you have the space (and Money!) it's a must get.

An excellent build. Well worth the price

This set is definitely worth the price. Took a while to put together but it was a fun activity. The level of detail is incredible too. Only issue was that the TIE fighter that came with the set was too big. So I just made a new smaller one. I also built more rebel ships to go with it and modified an older star destroyer set to be a victory class.
