If you buy it, you will see the value

I just bought this set yesterday and started building last night. It's great fun and I see how much effort they put into this design. The build differs a lot from the 2002 set, and it is much more stable than the old one. A lot of complaints are coming from reviewers who have not even bought the set (and they complain that their review got removed because the set is not even available...). It's possible that they don't see how much it costs for LEGO to actually design and prepare the set. The printing of the instruction book is amazing, and packaging/weight/size of this new set is definitely comparable with those of UCS Millenium falcon. For those who complain about the price, if you are truly looking at the price/pieces, why not look at price/stud or price/weight? And I would say, designing this set can be more challenging than any of the other UCS sets. I agree that lego could've put more mini-figures, but personally I care more about the architecture and skills I could learn from building the set... Adding more figures improves the value of collecting this set, but not really the cost of making the set. For me, I'd definitely say this set is well designed, fun to build, and worth the price.

A Faithful (pun intended) Recreation

This set is fantastic as a display piece! It is gargantuan and breathtaking. The attention to detail is amazing! I sat down and built it in 9 hours and 41 minutes in one day, with two or three breaks.
While I have a few complaints, I would not say they detract enough for me to take away a star for the overall rating.
First, and stated a million times, I think it should have another minifigure. Since it is Darth Vader's Star Destroyer, I think it should have come with the new, printed-arm version of Darth Vader.
Second, there are small nooks and crannies here and there where the colors from the interior show through and can be seen from the exterior. These are small, and some can only be seen from specific angles, but it would have been nice if it could have been 100% grey on the exterior, as opposed to 99.5%.
Lastly, the TIE fighter included for the main ventral hanger is way too big. This is a small detail, and can be modified to be smaller, or taken out altogether.
All that said, this set is fantastic! This was my first UCS set, and I do not expect it to be my last. I am hopeful LEGO will make a UCS Venator-class Star Destroyer in the near future. They appeared in Star Wars Episode II, Star Wars Episode III, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Please LEGO, that is not an obscure or undesirable ship. I will absolutely buy it if you produce one, as will thousands of others!

Amazing set

Not sure what all these “too difficult” reviews are but this set is amazing! It’s a UCS set, so yes it’s going to be somewhat difficult when assembling. If you’re not used to Lego or don’t like it when the plates don’t fit perfectly when trying to fit then go for something easier! I’ve moved twice while owning this set and it holds well in the car, even on the stand. Don’t listen to these people if you’re into a more challenging build or actually have patience, you’ll be fine.

This will be a great addition for any collector. It comes with two mini-figs but it's not mini-fig scale which is fine by me.
The amount of detail with gun placements, shield generators and the Tantaive IV. It's a display piece and shouldn't be played with. When moving it follow the instructions so you don't break anything inadvertently. It definitely catches anybody eye when walking in, even people who aren't Star Wars fans recognize it.
It's retired now but if you get a chance to get a used one for a reasonable price, I would take it. A must have for Lego Star Wars fans.

I just absolutely love this Lego build! We love Star Wars & have plenty of the Lego space crafts, but this one takes the cake with its massive size & not a single neat detail left out (even Leah's escape ship is included, how cool!!!)! Building was not complicated at all, each piece assembles separately to complete the shell of the craft! I highly recommend this build to any Star Wars fan, yes the price tag is high but completely worth it!!

Excellent UCS Set

This is one of the best UCS sets I've built. It's on par with the UCS Falcon. Unlike some other reviews, I found the build to be very sturdy once completed. You just have to to follow the directions exactly and use some force to assemble the pieces that make up the large outer plates. Be sure they are all locked in together. Looks great once finished. Highly recommended!

This BEAST was a challenging build. But in a good way. I will say that removing the top part to get to the handle usually knocks a few small blocks off, but other than that, this thing is rock solid. It doesn't have a lot of play-ability, but it looks wonderful!! Added this to my small collection of imperial cruisers.

I had a great time building this unique one of a kind set. After finishing the repetitive colosseum, this was a breath of fresh air. The set is huge and looks intimidating. Best of my collection thus far. Get it before it retires!
