Great build but...

I found this set to be a super fun and enjoyable experience for me and my twitch stream. The only problem I find with this set is the built in stand. It is a very small amount of bricks for such a large piece. Yes it looks elegant and beautiful sittin on the shelf. But recently I had moved and in the move the base/stand collapsed almost instantly and had fallen down and broken apart in the back of my car. Other than that small flaw I found this to be a super fun and extraordinary experience. The whole 16 hours it took me was a thrill from start to finish. I gave a 1 stud for play experience because obviously its ment to be a show piece in your collection and not to move. I am not looking forward to a complete tear down and rebuild for the sole fact that I dont have the pieces divided into the baggies to follow the directions easily. But i am also super excited to build it again cause of the challenge and amount of joy it brings. Thank you lego for you work into this it looks beautiful just needs a little more sturdy of legs.

Attention potential buys, ignore the piece/price ratio! The sheer size and accurate representation of this model makes it well worth the investment. This was a very satisfying and fun build; I almost disassembled it once I competed it just to experience the joy of building it again. I hope large piece-count sets like this and the UCS Millennium Falcon are going to be regular appearances from now on. Keep up the good work, LEGO!

Truly the heart of a Star Wars collection

Looks incredible, though the build can get someone repetitive due to the nature of the ship's design. At the end of the day, a technic scaffold with four large plates and a bridge superstructure on top is relatively simple in concept. This is of course of no fault of the designers; it's just the best way to make this sort of ship.
Once completed, however, it is easily the most magnificent set I have ever seen to have on display. The raw size of the beast impresses all who so much as glance its way, while the attention to detail has me still admiring the little details and greebling long after the build itself is completed.
On top of this, it provides excellent opportunities for those who enjoy micro-scale creations to build other ships to scale with it to truly show off its awesome size. It really is the flagship to any Star Wars collection.
Long live the Empire!

Genius design

Maybe I'm just a lego newbie (this is basically my second ever lego set) but some of the design choices in this thing make me rethink what can be done with lego. I got this for my "empire" collection and this set takes center stage. Looks amazing and very movie realistic.

I waited about two months for this to come which is understandable. Let's start by saying this thing was really fun putting together, it took one full day of none stop building because I wanted it done by a certain day. It was easy to follow along with the directions, bags were plentiful! After it was build I had to move it to my kids (5 year old, ended up getting a dresser to put this on instead of the box) room, thats were the problems came in. I went to 'carry' it as the directions stated and that went horribly wrong. The bottom wing fell off which is a pretty big piece and it took 30 minutes to reattach everything that fell off due to the construction and angles I had to get to without taking it all apart. So i then had to carry it by dissembling to top as instructed in the directions. This work much better and the only problem I had was simply moving a massive object through the house (not LEGO's fault there). Overall this was a joy to put together and is well worth the money if you are a fan. Now i'm waiting two months for the UCS Millennium Falcon, I'm told this is sturdier by LEGO! I rated it a play experience of 3 simply because you don't play with this, you look at it.

great build

it was a very fun build and totally worth the money. I'm 14 and i spent a while saving up, and it was worth it! It was not very challenging for me, but i am an expert builder. I had lots of fun customizing the inside, which had lots of open space. The only bad thing is the the larger plates do not hold together that well.

Massive Set

This set is massive. It was very enjoyable to build and looks great. Nice details, though I felt they could have add just a few more. Just a warning, this thing is huge. Make sure you have space to display it, before buying.

Amazing set

I received this for my early 45th birthday present and what an amazing present it is. I built the set over the course of several weeks and did not experience any of the problems that a few reviewers had. Anyone that says they built it In less than 30 hours are not correct. I have had no problems with things not fitting, falling off or needing changed. The set was perfect, a very fun and interesting build and you can tell the LEGO staff put a lot of thought and engineering into this set. I would buy another one if I had room, this thing is huge! Amazing build and very visually pleasing.
I would recommend this to a friend!
