Kinda dissapointing

If we consider this being an improvement over the older model, i honestly have quite some issues with this one.
This overall t is pretty much just a revamp with barely any improvements, with slight issues being:
-Areas in general are not enough detailed for a (UCS) build those days, almost all rooms need way more wall decoration, ground decoration and play features.
-This main elevator is just way to tiny, so is the prison cell...you can not just play around well in those areas unless you have tiny hands, why was the size overall of the build not increased ?
Same issue with the overall basement level.
-What is the deal with the overall secondary elevator ? the result is overall not that great to be honest.
Overall i feel this is a great deal if you want to have this as a play set for children who will be less picky about the overall results and have smaller hands to reach in how and wherever they want, since in the end the amount of minifigures and play features is plenty while it is a solid build(only thing that makes me worry are those thin strains of wire that hold both elevator), it is probably also a good investment i guess...but for this being a recent USC build and a revamp of an older one, there could have been done so much more to improve upon the older model.
As decoration piece it kinda fails because it has no stand and there is no true exterior side, only interior and the interior, while having plenty of play features, is visually simply not that pleasing.
As play set for people that are not smaller kids it fails because some interiors are just to tiny.
Further the build itself is not per se challenging or boring...it was a fun way to pass time, but looking at it in the end i would probably never want to do this again.
And if it was not for some exclusive features and figures and there is still some majesty to be found in it when presented, i probably would already be planning to sell this thing in 5 years when the value will go up, so in the end, except for a few specific targets i would advice anyone else to do something else with their money that is not buying this particular set.
As soon as this gets an other revamp that has some exterior plates and bigger interiors(probably all at the cost of an increase in price, which i would not mind) and is actually worth it to be considered to be called an improvement, i would be buying it instantly though.

Absolutely Delights Children

I was surprised to see how many people gave this a 1* review simply because it is a re-release of an older set. It’s almost as if these people don’t know or care that new children are born every day; and some weren’t around when the old set was for sale. My nieces are two such people, and they are thrilled to be able to role play with this amazing set. They like to mix up all different lego themes, so some of the characters from lego Friends find themselves trapped on the Death Star. It is an expensive set, but, IMO, worth every penny.

The most fun

We love Starwars and Legos, but initially hesitated on this kit because the scale was a little silly and seemed more about play than realism. What I found once I got into it was a challenging model with surprises, narrative goodies, wonderful details. It took its unfinished place on the kitchen table for nearly two weeks, and the kids were delighted with each new room. The multiple elevators pushed this into the expert level - at least the first one. In the end, we really could act out every Desthstar scene from the first three movies with delightful accuracy. Expensive, yes. A must have, yes.

A Challenge to Lego Smug-Lords
on December 10, 2017

Having read so many, 'yawn this is too easy/I'm too awesome' reviews and comments on Lego-building (Star Wars in particular), I would like to lay down a challenge.
I moved countries recently. My beloved Lego Falcon was bundled into a bag and transported 5000 miles. It was smashed to pretty much smithereens. Rebuilding it (without instructions) was more fun and more challenging than putting it together in the first place!
Once finished, I looked for instructions online to see how well I had done...pretty good, but not perfect.
As I was considering raising my own bar by once again smashing my Falcon, this time together with my X-Wing, in one bag, and rebuilding both at once...an idea occured...to seperate the men from the boys. There could be a Lego Star Wars Tournament....
As a child I built a Thunderbird 2 and Ghostbusters Fire Station entirely from scratch, from my imagination, without instruction or reference. Back then I don't think instructions even existed (if so they were laughed at and thrown towards the nearest window). My biggest difficulty was having pieces of the correct colour.
Wouldn't anyone else like to get back to that? One idea. One huge pile of lego. How good are you?
Or is it just me?
:)

Nice reissue

They should have done more to 'tweak' small things in the design. Biggest change is the price increase. Reissuing sets is, however, a good idea. This is a classic set and a great display piece. Maybe reissue the Corner Cafe?
