GE Applicance Replaced a 17-year Old Bosch Range
on January 6, 2023
Posted by: Wolf004
from Honeoye Falls, NY
Purchased this GE Range to replace a Bosch Range which had been in use for 17-years. The application required the range to be converted to propane. In the process of the conversion many pieces of the new range parts and construction come under visible review. In converting the top burner nozzles the following required further and complete assembly, all 12 of the grate rubber bumpers required reseating as all of them where not installed properly. The foiled insallation around the oven duct on the left side was found to be unwrapped and not attached. The methodlogy for the attachment of this duct insulation is considered as poor. Dissassembled the top and reinstalled the duct insulation. The placement and installation of the gas pressure regulator is also considered a design defect. In the process of changing the oven bake cycle nozzle it is required to remove the bottom pan of the oven. This first requires the removal of two short 1/4-inch screws from the bottom pan at the back wall. In lifting the bottom pan it was noted that the bottom pan had a deficient enamal coating around the left screw, noted visibly the base metal of the pan is exposed and not protected. No clearance is provided to clearly lift the bottom pan from its mounting position as the oven convenction fan cover on the back suface of the oven comes into direct contact with the bottom oven pan on removal. This also is considered a design and manufacturing deficiency. The four oven leveling feet utilized on this appliance is also considered a appliance design deficiency. During our purchace process we observed many of the on display appliance units with broken and defective leveling feet.

I really like this range. I don't think I will be using the convection oven, but loving the air fry oven. All the burners on top are just great. Only complaint would be that there is no paper manual along with this product. I don't like having to go on line to look up all the different features.

30inch Slide-In Gas Range
on January 9, 2023

We had it over a month now. So far so good. I just have to get use to the fan noise cooling off the heat that generated when the oven is on. My last oven range fan cooling sound came on at 450 and above. This comes on when preheating and stays on until it
cool off. Also I love the cast iron plate that goes in the middle for pancakes, bacon, eggs or whatever you are cooking. I than clean it off put away and attached the rack back in the middle. Also in clean up spills and dirt, if you don’t get it up within the same day, the dirt sticks and harder to clean.

Fan noise is very loud - something is rattling
on January 23, 2023

Had our range installed last week, works great and starting to learn the abundance of features - but there is something wrong with the fan. This is the cooling fan that starts at around 200 degrees; I understand its purpose, our last oven had the same thing, but this is WAY louder than is acceptable - it's a rattling/ticking noise. This cannot be the correct functioning of the fan; I suspect that it is a part that is frequently faulty based on similar reviews.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Stove surface design flaw?
on February 20, 2023
Posted by: GE appliances 2023
from Morton Grive, IL
I love this stove so much, but I can’t help but note a design flaw. The top surface under the grill and around the flame, the Lee is a gap between the front control panel and the top surface. The gap is big enough that any crumbs while cooking would drop and making it hard to clean. It almost seems like it should’ve have been reversed as the back side is smoother surface.

Great except for the oven light.

I love this appliance but after a few months the oven light went out. iIn order to change the bulb I will need an electrician. It will have to be pulled out, and the back taken off. I’ve never had an oven that I couldn’t easily change the bulb. So, no oven light! Kind of a big deal!!!
