I bought this particular coffeemaker based on the Cuisinart name and reputation, appearance and the capability to make both a pot or a single cup. After cleaning up a huge mess at least 4 times, we finally figured out that you have to completely snap the K-cup down hard into the nest until you hear it snap. Then you have to push the lid down hard until you hear it snap again. If you don't do this, the contents of the K-cup literally explodes inside the chamber and makes a huge mess. All other coffeemakers that I have used or seen, you just have to push down the lid and it punctures the cup and seats it in the nest all in one step. My husband recently passed away and we had a lot of company at the house. One by one as folks decided to make themselves a cup of coffee, if I wasn't right there to instruct them on the special use of this coffeemaker, they too had a mess. Something that should have been so simple turned out to create even more stress to an already hard couple of days. We also found out that you can't brew a pot of coffee at the same time that you are brewing a single cup, even tho they each have their own water supply. Whats the point of having the option of brewing both if you still can only brew one at a time?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We love the coffee maker. It's fast and makes great coffee. Thankfully it comes with a 3 year warranty. The control board has went out on two coffee makers so far. But they honor their warranty and has shipped new coffee makers both times.
