Grounds in coffee pot. Strainer/Filter loose causes drain to close slightly causing filter to overflow. Filter is held in place between top and pot. Drain controlled be tightness of that fit. Filter should be locked in place by a clip or twist lock. Any play allows drain to slightly close, forcing water and grounds to back over around filter and then slowly drain into pot. So don't make over 6 cups in the pot.
Single serve side works great.

Always had cuisinart coffeemakers and this was our first one with a single serve brewer as we sometimes need an extra cup as the 4 of us in our family all drink coffee. Well, the single server is messy at times, doesn’t work with all pods equally and at times water is gushing out of the top of the pod as the water is not going through the pod and out the bottom of the pod into the cup. Sometimes the water is not going directly into cup and sprays all over the place. I read up on it and found out that we are not the only one with this problem.

The single serve portion of this brewer is less than desirable. The inside of it is difficult to clean and it sputters the liquid out making a bit of a mess

It's my first dual coffee center so i have no comparison but I think it is well made and has options that I like. I like that the pot pours liquid very neatly into the tank or cup and doesn't drip or splatter elsewhere.
