We bought the dual use coffeemaker about 4 months ago. There are two main issues that are problematic. First, it is very difficult to add water via the carafe without pouring water down the filter holder and on the heating unit. Secondly, liquid coffee somehow finds it’s way under the plastic handle on the carafe and drips out when the first cup is poured from the carafe. Other than these two issues, we use it most mornings. They do not prevent usage, but make its use aggravating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this about two months Ag, and it's important to remember that a "cup" in the Cuisinart world is not 8 oz..it's more like 6 oz.. We use both caffeinated and decaf coffee and it works great for a family with differences.
