Was amazed at the details and all the working gadgets! Even the ejection seat works! Got it for my husband and he worked 3 evenings getting it done! For us growing up with all the Bond movies made it even more special!

A lot of fun

Really fun build with a great integration between technic and traditional blocking. Excellent design. Found myself marveling at how it was designed for function and form. The special hidden sections work really well, and are fun. Make sure to follow the directions carefully so as to not miss a pin here or there, as you can't go back without disassembling the model.

Must Have for Bond Fans
on August 1, 2018

Being both a lifelong LEGO and James Bond fan, I was super excited to see this set announced. The build does take some time and has some challenging sections, but overall is a very satisfying experience. Some of the action features are not as smooth as they could be, but in all, it is a pretty amazing model. I hope this inclusion into the LEGO line-up has opened to door to potential future iconic Bond vehicles like Little Nellie (the gyrocopter from You Only Live Twice) and the submarine Lotus Esprit (from the Spy Who Loved Me).

Fun build, a lot of the Bond gadget elements
on August 22, 2018

First off, the gadget elements. This car has the hidden front guns, the tire spikes, the ejector seat, the hidden screen for the homer device, and the rear bullet shield. All work. There is also a hidden phone, which I dont' recall being in the original James Bond DB5.
The ejector seat works quite well, usually shooting the seat out of the car, although at times it does kind of fall back in. Still, good mechanism, and enjoyable. I've found that the front guns hidden under the turn signal lights get a little bit stuck at times when attempting to flip from lights to guns. (Haven't figured out exactly where it gets hung up).
The build itself is challenging, but not overly so. I confess to being very unsure how all of the infrastructure of the gadgets was going to come together, but it all did, quite seamlessly. The build itself took about 5 hours total, not pushing it really hard. Was about 1 1/4 hours per numbered package of parts. I was pretty careful, and didn't have any disasters where I had to try to go back and fix any mistakes.
The car itself is very attractive, and is quite detailed. Lots of interesting building elements and methods here. I'm always a little amazed at some of the building techniques in the expert sets (in this car, for example, the way the slanted rear side windows were created).
As a longtime James Bond fan and Lego fan, there was really no question that I would buy this set, and I'm glad that I did. I wonder if there are plans for any other Bond sets. The submersible Lotus perhaps? The BMW full of gadgets from Tomorrow Never Dies?

Lego Aston Martin Build Review
on March 17, 2019
Posted by: legoartist808
The Aston Martin is an very educational build using technic and snap pieces to create a very solid build. It took my time to enjoy the building process. After completing the build, I compared the build to pictures of the Aston Martin DB5 and was not completely satisfied with the end result. The outside of the car was built around the play functions leading to a boxy shape. The Aston Martin has unique angled curves, which makes it very challenging to capture. I did not like the tinted windows since the none of the pictures of the Bond Aston Martin had tinted windows. My windows were also scratched up, which was annoying since the rubber tires are separately packaged.
I made several small modifications to the build to add a little more roundness and height to the car and to try to capture the curves a little better. My end result is not perfect, but I think it looks better than the original. All the functions still work and I'm satisfied with it.
I attached pictures of the modifications I made to share with others who might be interested. I'm interested in modifications that others made too.
Overall, I liked the idea for this build, and I'm looking forward to more builds like this.

Fantastic set, amazing functions and great build techniques, I wish there were less stickers but thats always a gripe with me but overall a stunning set and a must for any James Bond fan. The Lego builders did an amazing job recreating the shape of the car and the hidden features are just perfect especially the ejector seat...Q would be proud to have this baby on the shelf!

Bought this for my husband for Christmas
on December 31, 2018

My husband has been wanting this and was thrilled to receive it for Christmas. It only took him 5 hours to build. He is an experienced Lego builder ( has been building Lego since he was a child and loves the bigger more challenging sets. He loved the detail. He told me it was one of the more challenging sets he has built because of how intricate the set is. He loves it though and has it on his desk next to his VW Bus and Bug.
