Most iconic movie car of all time!
on August 9, 2018

I am a life long James Bond fan! There isn’t anything that says James Bond 007 like the Aston Martin DB5. This LEGO model is a fantastic recreation of that car. It amazed me how the LEGO designers were able to include almost every spy gadget from the movie car, including the ejector seat!
I found the model somewhat challenging to build, but not difficult. I took my time (9 hours) and enjoyed every minute! I would highly recommend this LEGO model!

Best Bond Car Ever!
on July 26, 2018

I've been a James Bond fan for a long time and have always loved the DB5. When I saw this set I knew I had to get it and being a VIP member I jumped at the opportunity to get it early. I say it took me a day but that was broken up into 4 sittings while watching James Bond movies of course.
The special features the car has are awesome. The ejection seat works great. Rear bullet screen is a little stiff but not to a point that is a issue. Front hidden guns operate smoothly.
Overall its a great set and I'd recommend it to anyone that's a fan of James Bond or Lego fan in general that wants a slightly more challenging build.

A view to a build
on August 8, 2018

Ordered as soon as launched on VIP and disappeared on vacation. Sure enough it was waiting for me when I got home and I couldn’t wait to get building. It wasn’t an overly challenging build and I had finished in around 5 hours with a break in there . I must admit I was a little apprehensive with this one as I had read the mixed reviews before launch but I must say it looks a lot better in the brick than the pictures suggest. The gadgets work well especially the ejector seat which I was surprised by. If I had to quibble it would be that it’s a shame the badges are stickers not printed bricks. Overall Q should be proud!

Very nice project
on December 26, 2018
Posted by: Haroldo517
This was my first Lego project, so my comments should be taken with a grain of salt.
This was a very enjoyable, interesting and challenging (but not difficult) project.
The car is very cool and fun to play with.
Comments and (very) minor criticisms...
-The car kit is very boxy. Not sure if it's possible to replicate the extremely curvy smooth lines of the original car.
-The windshields were very challenging. It was difficult to seat them properly into the bricks...without damaging the rest of the vehicle. I had to try it 10-15 times before I was able to get it right.
-The front headlight/machine gun assemble is nice, but the mechanism is so tight, it doesn't easily, nor freely rotate.
-The rear bullet proof shield goes up easily, but needs to be helped on the way down.
-The ejector seat is awesome!
-The front rotating license plate is fun, but it's tough to rotate without breaking something.
-Not sure if it's part of the Lego style, but I don't like seeing exposed parts on the front and rear hoods (see image), I prefer the look of flat tiles to cover all of them.
All things considered, I loved the project.
It took me about 12 hours to complete (with a few mistake corrections that totaled about two hours)
After completing it, I broke it (when playing) 5 or 6 times, taking about 2-3 hours (total) to fix.
Highly recommended, especially to a newbie.
I'm 60, so I'm not sure how appropriate it would be for a young teenager.

Amazing Spy Car
on March 27, 2019

I am amazed while building this car, how those spy tools are put together! I had blasting fun doing this.
Bulletproof wall was little tight, so I adjusted the space between back window and trunk, and it works smoooooothly!!
I love the most thing about this car is Ejecting chair! It s really fun to play with this, but just extra careful with where hands hold while pulling to eject as I held on trunk, it came off! But easily fixed this.
Engine so detailed! Telephone hidden in the door, licence plate rolls into 4 different licence! eh! It s really amazing car.
Not recommend this car to any kids! It is little fragile to play rough.

Outstanding experience
on October 1, 2018

This set surpasses my expectations. I've been a LEGO fan forever, and a James Bond fan for nearly as long, so this was an obvious set to consider, and my wife and son bought it for me for Father's Day.
When I first saw the early reviews, I was unsure about the overall shape of the finished model. The Aston Martin DB5 is notable for its curves, always difficult to pull off in LEGO. The designers have surpassed themselves in this area, and from many angles the effect is perfect.
The build is complex but not unduly so. The use of red highlights in the instructions to show where sub-assemblies should go is a good idea on this particular set.
I especially liked the unusual building techniques and unusual use of parts. Examples include using seats for the front licence plate housing, the air scoop in the bonnet, and the side-on construction technique on the seats.
The ejector seat mechanism is astonishing and works flawlessly, as does the front side-light/machine gun mechanism. The rear bullet-proof plate mechanism catches lightly. The bonnet is superb, as is the engine detail.
And, the car rolls beautifully along a tiled floor.
This is a superb design. I can't imagine how the mechanisms were conceived, then designed, and then converted into a build that we can all complete.
The finished model is on the bookshelf, alongside my copy of David Worrall's book "The Most Famous Car in the World."

007 has FINALLY joined the Lego community!!
on August 5, 2018
Posted by: anantz007
I have been begging for this to happen for YEARS!!! I am a big fan of LEGOs. More importantly, I am a HUGE fan of 007!!!! I have been saying every since LEGO Star Wars Video Games were released, that they should do LEGO James Bond!! The franchise is rich with characters, set pieces, vehicles, gadgets and humor! Also, with all of the new movies that are always coming out, it would be a great way to plug the new movie and spark an interest in a new generation!! But sadly, that seemed impossible as the rights for building toys were under ownership of a rival toy company. When this was announced in July I rejoiced!! I almost couldn't believe this was actually happening!! The day it was released I bought it via the Lego website. In two days, it had arrived at my home!! I spent hours of time the following day building as I played 007 soundtracks on my old record player. The soundtrack played the most was "Goldfinger" because...come on...that's the movie that introduced us to this masterpiece of a build.
As for the build itself, I was a little intimidated at first. It's been a LONG time since I've built a set from LEGOs. Even then, the ones I had were at a lesser skill set. Seeing that this was an "Expert" build and the amount of small pieces required were overwhelming at first. But, I do love a challenge. I loved slowly watching all the tiny intricacies coming together! As I was building, I knew what the end result was going to be but I just didn't know how things were going to work.
I do want to note that even after being fully assembled, some of the gadget features did stick. The bulletproof screen would retract fully by turning the exhaust pipe. The roof that would slide out of the way to make an opening for the ejector seat at times would get stuck. The machine guns behind the headlights in particular gave me some difficulty. But since these are LEGOS and a lot of small pieces, if they were misaligned in the slightest, it would cause the issues I was having. After making some very, very slight adjustments, all of the gadgets worked perfectly every time. Just take patience, And don't get frustrated and push too hard or you may have to reassemble some pieces (learned that the hard way.)
I love how the instructions look like a dossier folder "For Your Eyes Only." Being a Bond fan, I also loved the info within the booklet. What sets this above the rest of most builds is that this does perfectly capture the spirit of what makes the Bond car a Bond car. It wasn't just a car, it had 5 extra gadget features along with 2 other smaller features that aren't often advertised. This has definitely been worth the wait.
I hope this is the beginning of an all new series for LEGO. I hope to see many more Bond cars and action play sets in the future along with a Lego 007 video game.
"Block, James Block."
