Best Anniversary Present!
on August 20, 2018

So I saw the email for this and rang himself and told him I "needed" it. He was like "It'll be your anniversary present" and I'm like "OK!"
Anyhoo, it arrived within 3 working days. Got it home and started in on it right away. It took 5 hours and 18 minutes the first time. First time, you say? Yis, I clearly missed something as the roof and ejector seat weren't working properly.
So I disassembled it completely (almost as much fun as building it tbh!). Tried again and voila! Everything works perfectly.
As me and himself are both humungous Bond fans, this was the best present ever. How many other wives can say their husband bought them an Aston Martin for their anniversary???

Better in real life

I must admit when I first saw photos of the latest Creator Expert Car I was extremely disappointed. It looked like a poor representation of the subject matter and I was put off purchasing it.
However I ended up receiving the set as a gift for Christmas and set about building it. It's a challenging build due to the several in built functional features. I'm still not 100% sure I've got it right, as the gearstick operated front guns mechanism sticks most of the time, although I can't figure out where I went wrong.
The good news is when built and on display it doesn't look anywhere near as squared off as I'd originally thought. In my display cabinet with all the other creator cars it doesn't look out of place at all, given what the designer has to work with they've done a good job with the curves. The only thing that really stands out is the heavily squared off front end that lets it down a bit from head on.
I can understand why the compromises have been made though, as the actual functional bond gadget elements have been incorporated well. Only the aforementioned guns, which may again be a mistake on my part.
I'm very happy with this set, it exceeded my low expectations by a long way and if you collect the Creator cars this compliments the rest of the series really well. If you have been putting off purchasing it due to pictures you've seen, don't be.

Brilliant set - great if you're looking for Lego for someone a little older than a child. Fairly difficult to build, but worth it.

Personally, it's one of the most favorite model. The detail of the equipment, especially the ejector seat is very impressive.

Now pay attention, 007

After building the Lego Saturn V and the Mini Cooper, I saw that the James Bond Aston Martin was available, and I just had to get one being a fan of James Bond. It is surprisingly detailed, and the built-in mechanisms for operating the retracting roof, the ejector seat, the folding machine guns, and the rear shield are well done. I had my doubts about how well the ejector seat was going to work, but when it was all together, I pulled the bumper, the roof retracted, let go, and the seat launched out of the car! Nicely done! Despite being kind of boxy, I think they did a nice rendition of an Aston Martin DB5. Even my wife thought it was pretty cool how it all works.

Impressive Engineering

I am a LEGO fan, not a car enthusiast, so for me the replication is close enough to the actual. It definitely is boxier than the actual DB5, but I can ignore that. What I love is the impressive design. Everything is tight and the special features work flawlessly. It looks wonderful on a shelf next to my other sets. I am not an experienced builder but found this relatively easy. I shared the build with my wife who is a novice. She had a few struggles but overall did fine and had fun doing it. We spread the build out over 5 nights after our toddler went to bed and it was a fun experience.
