Cool product. Poorly made.

I like the product as I purchased two units. It seems the joint at the base is not very strong. Must be evident as the new design shows a much sturdier construction. Needless to say one of the units has snapped at the base. Only had them since November 2016. The second one is weak too but has not broken like the first.
Seems like it is actually plastic at the base where it should be something stronger.

Belkin Valet Charge Dock for Apple Watch + iPhone

At $129.95 it is not a cheap dock and some of you might think it’s expensive but with this premium finishing and an Apple-like design, it’s worth it.
Using aluminum and metal make its weight around 630g (1.4lbs) and this is, for me, a problem. Every time you want to disconnect your iPhone with one hand the Belkin Valet comes with the iPhone. I would be more practical if Belkin had added some lead weights in the body of the Valet™ Charge Dock in order to keep it on the nightstand when disconnecting an iPhone. The other negative point is that you can’t put your Apple Watch sideway to use it as a bedside clock with the Nightstand Mode.

The dial at the back of the dock raises and lowers the Lightning connector to allow most phone cases on the market, so you'll be able to plug in your iPhone instantly, without removing the case.

Purchased my first Apple watch a couple of weeks ago and had the Belkin Valet recommended to me by my Apple Sales Associate. Nice design concept and look, so I purchased at the same time as the watch. Easy to set-up and worked great --- but for only 2 weeks. Watch still charges fine; however, my iPhone 6 no longer does. Phone charges fine on my other chargers, so something has stopped working in the dock itself. Unfortunately, Apple is out of stock on these units and cannot replace for me.
