Primarily use the cooler to bring the temperature of our upstairs loft down, so that our daughter can sleep at night, as the temperature can get above 95 in the summer and the windows upstairs do not allow for the traditional window mounted AC unit. The water efficiency of the cooler is great and only needs to be refilled every 3-4 days when just using it during the night.
I would recommend this to a friend!

bought 2 for my apartment...I live in Pennsylvania where the humidity is a killer...I wanted the "portable feature" primarily because I have limited electrical outlets(even using those electrical strip outlets with multiple plug-ins)...I was, and am still using the 3 standing fans from before, in additional to the 2 evaporative coolers I bought....the small ice packets supplied with each unit is not much of a factor in cooling the air...so I went out and bought these 10inx10in ice blocks...bought extra so I always have packs frozen and ready to go..still did not make the difference I was looking for...basically,i now have 2 glorified fans that require work....if you want the evaporator on, you will be removing the top and adding water(cold)...maybe not every day depending on your usage, but its not like flipping a switch and turning your fan on...again,i think if I didnt live in such a high humidity area,these coolers might have made the difference I was looking for....just remember, if you are adding ice cubes/ice packs, put those in first, then add your water

Great Cooler

This is the best room cooler that I have used. I live in Arizona and like my bedroom really cold at night. This evaporative cooler does a great job, has a large water capacity, and is very quiet on night mode. Highly recommended.

I was looking for a humidifier for my dog who has breathing issues and ran across these, figured it was a win/win, needed a new fan, wanted to save on electric, keep the place cooler: WOW!!! Amethyst no longer snoring or panting half as bad, plus we bought 3 more to keep the rest of the place cooler. The a/c is old and runs up the electric bill so time will tell, but so far so good.

Beating the Vegas Heat, One day at a time

I purchased this amazing Air Conditioner because we had our electricity go out on several occasions due to sand storms. One of them lasted 3 days and was over 110 degrees in our house due to the sun melting our electrical box. If I had a portable Air conditioner at the time, my neighbors would have helped us out with a cord, so I am prepared now and have enjoyed every ounce of this bad boy ever since.

I enjoy the fact that it is portable so I can move it where it's needed most. I previously had a window unit that was in one end of the house, so the air didn't reach the far end where the bedrooms were. I also like the idea that I don't have to vent it out a window.

Had this less than a week so can't say much. It does the job it's meant to do. A bit difficult to see water level through dark indicator window. Could as easily been a lighter colour plastic. Thinking I need a longer hose from kitchen tap to fill reservoir. A whole-house swamp cooler allows pump to run without the fan.
On this model, setting fan on 'silent' give filter time to get properly wet improving cooling performance.
Keep in mind *no* evaporative cooler works well when air is humid.
