Worked wonderfully for five weeks

The Frigidaire Evaporative Cooler 500 CFM was a first purchase of this type of unit for me, being a "swamp cooler' and honestly had never heard of them until I chanced upon it while browsing for a standard portable air conditioner. I was elated at first that I chose this item as it seemed to have all the benefits that I want. Upon arrival I was visually impressed with the quality and appearance of the brand new unit. The operation manual was straight forward and fairly easy to understand. After filling the water tank for the first time, I turned it on and found it to be a refreshing miracle machine - the fan is nice, but the cool moist air it provided by pressing the cooler/humidifier button that blew evenly around the room was so comforting. The controls on top are obvious and easy to see even in the dark. What a wonderful machine, I was hooked after the first few days. Unfortunately, five weeks after almost constant every day use, the humidifier/cooler function which produces the cooling mist failed to operate - It started a repetitive beeping and auto turn-off behavior for seemingly no reason, odd since the fan was still functioning perfectly. Guessing, it would appear that the water pump just became dis-functional which was difficult to believe since up until this happened everything was operating perfectly. Sadly for me my only option after contacting the manufacturer service & warranty department, was to return for a refund. However, I want to stress that my impression and review of this cooler unit overall is still excellent, it was worth the purchase price as a first time buyer. I will no doubt be shopping for another model with the same options and benefits to replace it, in the future.

First I would like to say the Frigidaire 2-in-1 Evaporative Air Cooler has been a life saver. We do not have too many hot days in sunny California but we have enough to cause discomfort. I do not have A/C so this cooler has been the best thing since sliced bread. It is very lightweight despite its size and I love that it has the option to of evaporative cooling on really hot days or the option to use the oscillating fan on those humid days. It also has an ice option (AMAZING), for those really hot days when you want to stick your head in the freezer and stay there. The fan itself is really quiet. I have it set up in the living room and while watching a movie on the projector screen this unit is so quiet it does not interfere with the sound of the movie. Another really cool feature is the fact that it has a remote to control the settings, so you do not even need to get up to adjust the settings.It even has a storage space for the remote on the unit itself. The oscillating fans do a great job of circulating all of the cool air in my large living room. The fan itself has three modes, normal, nature, and sleep mode (for those hot summer nights) and a timer so you can set it and forget it. The touch/remote control panel is really easy to control, very user friendly on visually knowing what each function does just by looking at the display panel. It is also really easy to clean and its a plus that the unit itself is not heavy so it is easy to lift and it has casters to roll the unit as well. If you are in the market for an Evaporative cooler, I would definitely recommend this unit as not only is it effective but it is very easy to use and has so many features that are very useful.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Keeps a large area cool

For starters let me say this is lightweight and very easy to move. It has an easy access water tank. The filter can be changed from the back easily. This has a touch screen or you can use the remote to operate. The Evaporative Cooler can be rolled around and does not take up a lot of space. We actually put this in my husbands works shed which is big and gets hot. This worked great at getting it cool. You can use with or without water and can also put the ice packs in and it really gets it cool. The oscillation does a great job. Overall we are super pleased with the performance.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I am sooo in love!

I'm in love with my Frigidaire Evaporative Air Cooler and Tower Fan! There are two rooms in my home that stay hot year round. I was looking for something that would cool these rooms when occupied, but it had to be portable and easy to move from room to room. This air cooler and tower fan is perfect!
You can use it as just a fan, or you can fill up the water tank and turn on the cooler/humidifier option to enable the water pump for cooler air.
It has 4 fan speeds: quiet, low, medium, and high. Even when set on high, it is really quiet. There are also three fan modes: normal, nature, and sleep mode. I absolutely love the nature mode. It makes you feel like you are outside, feeling the natural breeze. You can set the timer and it will automatically shut off after 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours. the remote control is awesome! If you need to change the settings, you can just reach for the remote. Very convenient! I highly recommend this air cooler and tower fan! Give it a try! You will not be disappointed!

I can finally sleep

Our bedroom is on the top floor of a split level house and is perpetually hotter than anywhere else in the house. With record heat this summer, sleep went from being uncomfortable to unbearable! We initially bought an artic-ice cooler because it was slim. But it didn't work at all. So we did a deep search online and found the fridgedaire. It's been perfect! It's easy to operate and has brought our room temps down from mid 80s at night to a comfortable 73 degrees.
