Toasts unevenly and burns one side of the toast

This toaster came highly rated. However, that is not consistent with my experience. Even at very low settings the toaster burns the bread on one side. When I adjust even lower to keep the bread from burning, I have to toast several times to brown the bread and even then one side is darker (or burned) compared to the other side of the bread. I am seriously considering getting my nearly 50 year old toaster back out of my trash and consider using it. The older toaster isn’t as attractive, but toasts better and more evenly then the new Cuisinart.

I was disappointed that the bagel setting doesn't work. Any setting over 1 will burn toast. but for an english muffin or bagel you need to set it to at least 3. For the price I guess it is ok.

It’s nowhere near as sturdy as our previous cuisinart toaster - feels very flimsy inside and you have to push the lever down very hard to engage it

Overall appearance and style is nice. Toaster has nice features for bagels and reheating. However, toasting bread isn’t so good. Only one side of bread is toasted consistently while the other is barely toasted.

Attractive looking and has some practical features such as "Cancel" and the ability to raise the toasted slices up for easier access, nevertheless the heat is uneven. It generally works well with 2 slices, but with one slice the toaster tends to toast just one side of the slice.
