The toaster burns the lower portion of the bread while leaving the upper part under-toasted. The only way to toast evenly is to do two cycles, turning the bread upside down after the first one.

We bought a toaster oven because the toaster died and we thought it would be nice to have multi-purpose appliance. It turned out that the toaster over didn’t toast bread very well. It does many other things quite well … but not toast. So I ordered the Cuisinart toaster. It’s much better than the toaster oven, but it toasts the bread unevenly. One side is browner than the other whether we use the left slot or the right slot. I’m not going to return it — we’ve had it too long, and I’m not miserably unhappy with the toaster. Just not perfectly satisfied, and I can live with that. Considering everything else that’s horribly wrong with the world right now, I’ll stay with this not-quite-perfect toaster.

The toaster does not toast evenly on each side of bread. Both slots are equally deficient. It's not bad enough to return the product. I was, however, surprised as this is such a good name brand.

Bought this to replace another Cusinart toaster and am extremely disappointed in the decline in quality. Doesn’t toast evenly (burns one edge) and is cheaply made. The lever and adjustment knob are flimsy and the spring sometimes fails to raise the toast when complete. Will be sending it back.
