Sad to say I expected better, especially from Cuisinart. This toaster simply doesn't toast evenly. I've also had no luck with the bagel setting when toasting bagels. It's better left off, but because of the unevenness of the toasting, one side of the bagel ends up overcooked while the other is left undercooked. I'm not sure the reheat setting is very useful, although I did use it once and it worked as advertised. It's possible I got a defective toaster, but if this one goes back, I'll be looking for a different brand. It's the old "fool me twice" adage.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Toaster is very flimsy, and either doesn't toast enough or burns the bread. Not at all like my previous Cuisinart toaster, which was very good.

Toaster is easy to clean, easy to store, and toasts quickly and evenly. I wish it had a longer cord and longer bread slots to accommodate more types of bread.

Bread toasts unevenly. One side toasts more than the other, but compared to several other toasters, this was the best of the lot.
