Great solar activity watch

Bought this watch prior to an 8 day Grand Canyon / CO River rafting trip. It *almost* made it the duration of the trip, but I recorded quite a few hikes and some portions of our river travel. Wound up having to plug in for a bit to my power bank but still happy with the performance. Did use the low power / battery saver mode for a bit (didn't activate Expedition mode, by choice) before charging one day (day 5 or 6?). Overall did great. Have a three day Mt. Baker climb coming up and plan to track quite a few hikes, am certain it will last. A longer Mt. Rainier trip in September, will likely have to use power bank. Overall great watch. I love the very simple UI / older style button-driven method to interacting with a screen.

I love the watch so far, so many different features! I haven't been able to test them all out, and probably wont ever be able to. I have used it to track hikes and trail runs. The solar feature is sweet! Battery last a good amount of time.

Great watch for the outdoor athlete

I've had a Garmin Forerunner 220 since 2014 and have lived with the falling battery life (from 10 hrs to 3 hrs of GPS life) until I bought the Instinct. I wanted a watch that would meet or exceed the 220's original GPS battery life not because I'm out on the trail for 10+ hours at a time; but, because I tend to do three or four 3+ hour workouts at a time with no convenient way to recharge. The Instinct has handled my use model perfectly. I was trying to decide between a Garmin or one of its competitors and stuck with Garmin because I wouldn't have to learn a new app and also because the watch controls of the Instinct are very similar to the Forerunner. My only complaint is the user manual, I seem to take forever to find what I'm looking for. I really like how the watch can handle multiple sports (I know most GPS watches and fitness trackers these day do that) and you can customize each activity. The Instinct couldn't count my total ascent during a recent bouldering session though; I might have to take a closer look at the configuration for climbing. All in all, I really like most of the features (solar, navigation, pulse ox, MOB ...) that were added to this watch and look forward to experimenting with the endless configuration possibilities.

Great battery life. Heart rate works well when watch is snug on wrist. Syncs nicely with phone app. I haven't used half the features yet, but does a good job tracking work outs and daily activity. Great gps watch at a decent price.

Great Rugid GPS Watch!

This is a great quality watch for all sports. The GPS is very accurate and a full battery has over 25 hours of GPS (not including solar!) I love the Battery Saver option and the customization of this watch! Perfect for everyday use, but also easily ready for those adventure days.
The solar charge is okay. It takes a while, but it does work. I am in Washington with low sun angles, so it often charges slower. But I have left it in the sun for a day and came back to 7 additional days of battery! But you might as well throw it on the charger if you are not going to be wearing it.
